To be supplied with the brackets to attach shelf to wall

So I bought a box wall shelf to go above my DD's top bunk for her to put books on, having checked the weight this shelf is advertised as being able to hold is sufficent for the weight of the books, I built it this afternoon and it doesnt come with the wall fixings, you have to go and buy them, nowhere has any as described in the instructions and nowhere does the item say before you buy it that it doesnt come complete.

So i cannot put it up as I cannot source these L shaped screws that hold the thing to the wall.

I am also now very unsure about how they could have stress tested it to the weight they say it can hold if they dont supply the wall fixings as there is no specifications as to type length etc... Just a picture of the type of screws you need.

Would I be unreasonable to ask for a large discount or for them to refund me for these even though they have been assembled? Never occured to me that they would not come with the necessary items to attach them to the wall.

Engineers - The two round holes contain a device that these L screws then hook onto, they will not attach to anything without the specific L screw that they don't include.
Am going to see if wickes have anything similar, but this situation is a bit like supplying an item of clothing with a custom popper, with only one of the poppers and then saying go out and purchase the other popper that you then sew onto the garment, i could sew it on, but no one sells this popper or if they do you cant check its the right size by viewing it online and you end up buying a whole new popper with both halves and removing the one thats attached already.

Those circle areas are a custom hole thing that is intended to attach to the L screws they havnt included, you cannot use them to attach the item to anything without the missing pieces

The photo shows that you only need to buy the wall fixings, not the screws so I'd check that they aren't just missing from the box.

So just to give an update, company says you can buy these screws everywhere, I have tried homebase, screwfix, jewsons, hitchcock and king and wickes. None of them sell the screw. We dont have a b&q near us. All of them said, thats a non standard screw it should come with the item
The 2nd picture I included seems to show them included, but the first picture shows you needing to buy them. The company concerned have confirmed they are not included. They are now offering to post me some.
I would advise never to use furniture to go

For those that are confused, the screw not included is this L shaped one that the shelves hang off, shown in this diagram

That's madness!
Can see what you mean about an non-standard fitting!!
At least they are sending you. I am sure you are pretty frustrated with it all.

Hi,
Just read your reply. Those look like square cup hooks. Available from screwfix, toolstation, wickes and others. I'd be tempted to screw it back to the wall and forget the hooks as it's likely to be more secure. Do make sure you use the correct plugs / fixings for your wall type though.

They are the same shape as square cup hooks, however they are more screw and less length otherwise the unit isn't flush to the wall.

No easy way to attach directly to the wall as its a solid back, looked at improvising with a sink attachment, but have just bought additional angle brackets to go underneath. To help stabilise them and to give it a bit more strength.

Wish i had just built some myself now, would be finished by now id imhad
