It just seems a brilliant way to end an awful, politically unstable week, especially as the Toxic Twosome marched out today.... visions of Malcolm are swirling...

Grin

Oh god, just realised there's a series 4!!!!

WHY DID NOBODY TELL ME?

ImperialBlether · 10/06/2017 21:52

Love how Malcolm gets a birthday cake with "Happy birthday c*nt" on it - his secretary asks who sent it. He shakes his head and says, "It could be anyone."

Grin

Later he says it was from the PM.

ImperialBlether · 10/06/2017 21:56

Here's a quote from my newfound series 4. Anyone thinking of Theresa May?

Malcolm: She's going to have to fall on her sword. Which means that we have to stick one in the ground, trip her onto it and get someone to jump up and down on her back for ten minutes.

SeanSpicer · 10/06/2017 22:01

Imperial yes definitely. Did you see that tweet by Peston from one of the Tories - "we all fucking hate her".

StewPots · 10/06/2017 22:03

I've just done Ep1 & 2 of Series 1 and I knew I'd made the right decision to watch them again.

Poor Angela Grinand the poor actress getting screamed at by Malcolm over the Simon Hewitt disaster!

Just beautiful television!

The American version Veep is worth a watch too. Took a while to find it's stride, but wickedly funny when it did.

StewPots · 10/06/2017 22:06

And you just know that this kind of shit is playing out across all the political parties right now, all the Malcolm Tucker-types zooming round giving people loads of grief Grin

It makes me almost happy to be in my healthcare job for 12 hours tomorrow!

OP posts:
StewPots · 10/06/2017 22:07

Yes I've heard great things about Veep, will give it a try I think!

ghostyslovesheets · 10/06/2017 22:08

Veep is very very good

Mycutiemarkisrubbish · 10/06/2017 22:10

Spinners and Losers is the greatest hour of comedy ever made. Nicholson and his biscuits, Jamie going feral, Blinky Ben and then the realisation at the end that it's all been orchestrated by Malcolm to get him in the PM's good books.

Plus the night editor at the Daily Mail - "Just tell me the news and I'll print it. We aren't the Telegraph, we can't just print the headline 'Cruelty' and a picture of a fucking dolphin underneath it."

KERALA1 · 10/06/2017 22:11

I love that whole wall thing with nightmare constituent then it falls down . Love it

Griffintoes · 10/06/2017 22:16

Yess! I've been thinking about doing a rewatch. Until now was too depressed about politics, but it's suddenly got interesting again!

GinSwigmore · 10/06/2017 22:17

Ah Glenn "it is, as my dear old mother would have said, double wank and shit chips."

StewPots · 10/06/2017 22:23

Gin GrinGlenn, next to Malcolm, is one of my favourites. The episode where Malcolm smacks him in the face.....

2ducks2ducklings · 10/06/2017 22:29

'It's like being in a therapy group run by my own rapist', or words to that effect. Another brilliant episode.

Kokusai · 10/06/2017 22:43

No.

Because you'll spend the whole time shouting at the TV being really annoyed that real politics seems to be EXACTLY the same as on in the thick of it.

FlipflopsOrWellieboots · 10/06/2017 23:05

Where can you find Veep?

ghostyslovesheets · 10/06/2017 23:15

it's on Sky Atlantic

SnickersWasAHorse · 10/06/2017 23:26

I love Thick of It but I agree with a previous poster who said that you should watch Yes Minister and Yes Prime Minister.
They are on Netflix. Some of it is quite interesting to see from today's perspective.

ShoesHaveSouls · 10/06/2017 23:26

Yanbu - I love it, real belly laughs.

I might have to re-watch it now...

Sugarcoma · 10/06/2017 23:34

MyCutie That cruelty line was one of my favorites in the entire show and the one that got me into it. Also ended up working in media years later and it was still just such a brilliant summation of the papers.

Lottapianos · 11/06/2017 08:51

'Ah Glenn "it is, as my dear old mother would have said, double wank and shit chips'

That's precisely the line that has been going around my head for the past 2 days, thinking about the utter fucking mess this whole election has turned into, especially Zac effing Goldsmith getting back in in Richmond Angry

The only thing for it is to take refuge in The Thick of It. The writing and the performances are absolutely works of art
