to expect that people understand that when someone says "Everything in moderation" they don't mean *everything*, it's just a figure of speech

mrsspoon, that made me smile I sometimes think of the extremely strong painkillers I had after my CS (can't remember what they are called) but I still get an inward sigh and a fuzzy feeling of joy when i remember them

IntergalacticWalrus · 19/03/2007 20:10

I didn't like G&A either.

MrsSpoon · 19/03/2007 20:13

LOL sunnysideup, glad it's not just me.

There are still some days that I wouldn't mind a wee shot of diamorphine. You know when the wine isn't hitting the spot!

NorksBride · 19/03/2007 20:36

I have had heroin but I've never tried a Fruit Shoot.

How very MN.

I had an epidural for my c/section, does that count, seeing as I have never had a fruit shoot?

SueW · 19/03/2007 20:48

Even my 10yo DD's had heroin. Anaesthetist made it very clear: 'diamorphine, which you have probably most commonly heard called heroin'.

as far as i understand it, heroin itself in moderation is not hugely bad for you. it's the money required to fund a habit that makes people come a cropper. i can't remember the figure exactly but i remember reading somewhere that 80% of all crime is drug-related. so it's the lifestyle that kills you, not the drug iykwim?

morphine makes me vom, though.

Aloha · 19/03/2007 21:00

I had morphine after two caesareans and one other op. I really cannot see the appeal of heroin at all. It killed the pain but didn't give me any sort of pleasant sensation. Voltarol made me dizzy, stunned and totally out of it, morphine just took the pain away!

Tamazepam just made me tired (labour again), although I have a friend who was on Tamazepam for back pain and she was flying. I was very glad when she went to the osteopath and got her back sorted as she was totally off her head on it.

AitchYouBerk · 19/03/2007 21:03

chris morris, what a man...

sunnysideup · 19/03/2007 21:04

Go on, everyone. tell me more
It's painkiller porn for me!

Wow, I think I should be really glad that class a drugs never came my way, I think I may have an addictive personality

AitchYouBerk · 19/03/2007 21:04

i think he's working on something with charlie brooker.

DrMarthaMcMoo · 19/03/2007 21:51

OK then, we don't like "everything in moderation" (though I'm actually with Pruni on this one and I know what I mean if I say it and I don't mean I want some heroin)...how about "a bit of what you fancy does you good"? No-one could argue with that, surely? I don't fancy any Class A drugs or even a Fruit Shoot but I do fancy Lovely Dr Kovac and I'm sure a little bit of him would do me the world of good...
