Baby Food Advise

Morning everyone!

I need some advice re my baby's food. Please don't judge me, I know it's not great but I don't know what to do.

DD is 10 months and was weaned at 6 months. But she has never taken a spoon! She won't entertain one in the slightest.

As time has gone on she has become more and more fussy, refusing most foods I offer.

She eats a lot of fruit and dairy but point won't touch vegetables or any meals I make. So atm she's just having toast/fruit/snacks and maybe some pasta or waffle with fish fingers.

How do I get DD to eat other things or take a spoon so she eats decent meals? I've tried giving DD the spoon and leaving her to it but the food gets thrown on the floor followed by screaming.

I don't know what to do Sad

Untiil 12 months, food is just for fun, their main source of nutrition is milk.

There are loads of great recipes to try where you can sneak some veg in. I do a cheese sauce for macaroni cheese that has blended cauliflower and butternut squash. I also used the Annabel Karmel hidden veg pasta sauce, which is also great with some mince stirred in. My boys love savoury flapjacks or muffins with grated carrot and courgette, and I've rarely seen them so happy as when they have a baked sweet potato with beans and cheese.

Don't worry at all about the spoon. Put a shower curtain or plastic tablecloth under her highchair and offer small amounts of food. If she throws it, just quietly pick it up and put it aside. I often say, "We don't throw food. You don't have to eat it, but don't throw it."

You haven't made a rod for your own back at all. She's too young to be worrying about that. Just keep offering a range of foods. One day she'll eat them, one day she won't, but if you keep offering she may surprise you.

Hi OP, although my baby does take the spoon, we also feed her direct from the baby food pouches at times (easier when on a day out) maybe give that a try? Get's her a taste for meals
