And if you're wondering where the 'magic money tree' is, it's in the tax avoidance forest Wink

I hear a barrel being scraped

Really @TheMonkeyAndThePlywoodViolin @Leaderwithsoul

So the Guardian is fine with its tax avoidance because it supports Labour.

I know this election is a moral judgment for you, but does the blame not go both ways?

Leaderwithsoul · 08/06/2017 11:19

I'm perfectly open about having both names. Hardly hugely outing

Leaderwithsoul · 08/06/2017 11:19

Its my election day name but i get mixed up so just use both.

Justanotherlurker · 08/06/2017 11:31

Wasn't trying to out you, just pointing out that its not solely an "evil right wing conspiracy" of tax avoidance.

The Guardian are on record for both tax avoidance and hiring unpaid interns as well as other hypocrisies.

They are only owned by a "Trust" in name..

I know tomorrow is going to full of how uneducated/tricked by the right wing media everyone who didn't vote labour where, but it's like beating a dead horse at this stage

Leaderwithsoul · 08/06/2017 11:32

You were. But it's ok

Two4One2017 · 08/06/2017 11:38

Be gone bankers!

The very people Labour are relying on to tax so they can spend spend spend.

Yeah - let's really screw the economy....if this is the attitude of Labour's supporters, you can see why in the shadow of Brexit, the banks will need no encouragement to relocate to the EU - talk about shooting yourself in the foot! What's left of our economy then.....we don't actually make anything theses days as it all got farmed out to China.

Don't need to read the media to work this out....but start with the Institute of Fiscal Studies if you want an insight.

BillSykesDog · 08/06/2017 11:45

It's not the "freeest press we've got". The UK ranks 40th in the Press Freedom Index, behind Ghana and Surinam to name a few and only a few ahead of Burkina Faso. More press freedom can be achieved. Norway ranked number one. Ironically the criticisms of press in the UK are all human rights based, something May has this week vowed to take down.

Yes, but that lack of press freedom is largely due to measures taken against tabloid newspapers including Murdoch, measures which I'm sure the OP heartily approves of.

We're in a situation at the moment where newspapers can't print things that are true if rich people don't like them. Gagging orders are available to the wealthy that poor people simply can't access. Currently there are gagging orders in place which stop the press from reporting on the criminal activities of a very rich businessman because it might upset his children to hear about it.

We need more press freedom, not less. Whinging that a newspaper doesn't support your favoured party doesn't achieve that.

user1471517623 · 08/06/2017 11:45

Andrewofgg of course we should have free press and do. But when most of the press is right wing, regularly gets away with printing outright lies (on many topics not just politics) and has huge influence over the electorate it somewhat makes a mockery of the democracy you are saying we have! There is a huge imbalance with a lack of independent and mainstream left papers, a monopoly which would not be allowed in other areas.

Also whoever reported me for posting in 2 names that was incredibly petty since I immediately in subsequent post said i was same poster and had made mistake, so i wasny exactly sockpuppeting.

Typical petty Tories. Must be rattled though.

NotBadConsidering · 08/06/2017 12:06

BillSykesDog we are in agreement then. In the ranking of Norway the fact that no one individual or organisation can own more than 40% of a tv station, radio station or newspaper is one thing that's put them at the top. I agree about gagging orders. They're probably behind monopolies and human rights when it comes to ranking press freedom I suspect.

Charmageddon · 08/06/2017 12:21

Typical momentum - make it look as though there's more on your team than there actually really is....

Leaderwithsoul · 08/06/2017 12:31

What by posting then admitting it in next post. That'll work.

metspengler · 08/06/2017 12:37

But the drip drip drip of anti-Corbyn, for example, does get through to many people.

Two things got through to me on Corbyn:

  1. Corbyn himself
  2. Momentum and its mock social justice stance with the fascistic overtones

I'm not alone on either of those points. Labour bots spamming MN can't fix those issues.

The Labour strategy is to hope TM and the conservatives can look bad enough that even Jeremy Corbyn seems like a possibility to the sane mainstream of the country. I doubt that will work, we'll see.

there seems to be a huge problem with lack of analytical thinking in this country

There does, and all the 3 main parties bank on that for their votes. Labour is no exception - is there still talk of giving the vote to 16 year olds? Why not drop it down to 3 or 4, Labour need never lose an election again.

Why so glum monkey?

shaming/goading people into doing what you want them to do and then blaming them for it not panning out for you?

Flumpernickel · 08/06/2017 13:46

Grin @charm

Leaderwithsoul · 08/06/2017 13:46

I'm not glum I am amused that you think bolding my other name is somehow an amusing dig.

Flumpernickel · 08/06/2017 13:48

Not really, but flouncing dramatically on the other thread and leaving us to our "mutual tory wankathon" then coming back without announcing the name change?

#toteshilairehun
HTH.

Charmageddon · 08/06/2017 13:49

I love a good Tory wankathon!

Always a team player Grin

Leaderwithsoul · 08/06/2017 13:50

Flouncing dramatically..aka going to sleep

Leaderwithsoul · 08/06/2017 13:52

Typical twisting of the truth. Not surprised.

I posted once and then realised I had changed name on other thread so then said oh its me.

I know how Corbyn feels now tbh.

So lame that you reported.me.

Am going to dramatically flounce off again

Aka doing something more interesting than engaging with you three.

Tata .
