To not know who to vote for

We bought a house a few years ago and I'm worried about the effect Fridays result will have on mortgages and finances in general.

Is it so bad to vote selfishly? I don't agree with either party. I dont know where Jezza is getting all this money from and I don't like his stance on brexit or benefits but on the other hand I don't agree with what Teresa is doing to the NHS and education.

I've can't seem to find anything on the parties manifestos and mortgages and what it will mean for me and my family.

Vote for whoever you want for whatever reason you want. That's your right.

Have you tried the comparison quizzes? There's a list of independent ones here...

But definitely vote please! Smile

PeppaPigTastesLikeBacon · 07/06/2017 20:40

I'm not keen on either parties (Tories and labour) but I hate Tories more.
I'll be voting tactfully

thesqueezedlemon · 07/06/2017 20:40

I'm wondering the same thing.
Does anyone know what impact retrospective Labour and Conservative governments will have on mortgages, house prices, interest rates?

thinkiamgoingcrazy · 07/06/2017 20:43

I'll be voting tactfully

I can't stand what the conservatives are doing to the nhs and education so I'll be voting for Labour. Vote for whoever you hate the least , and whoever has the policies which are the most important to you.

cardibach · 07/06/2017 20:46

What is it about Corbyn's stance on Brexit don't you like since tar isn't an issue for you in regard to the Tories?

cardibach · 07/06/2017 20:47

That you don't like*
That sentence got away from me. Hope it's still clear.

Parietal · 07/06/2017 20:51

re mortgages, house prices etc

Tory hard brexit -> inflation -> interest rates up -> bad for your mortgage

Labour soft brexit -> less inflation -> less bad

(no brexit would be best for the economy but that choice doesn't seem to be available)

DarkFloodRises · 07/06/2017 20:53

Agree with Parietal. The worst thing for the economy (and hence interest rates, mortgages etc) would be a Tory hard Brexit.

TheNumberfaker · 07/06/2017 20:57

Brexit will be extremely painful for the economy. It needs to be non-existent or as soft as possible.
Using your vote as wisely as possible to get the Tories out will benefit you, your family and the whole country. Labour are not going to win, a hung parliament is the best result for everyone except millionaires and swivel-eyed loons desperate to take Britain back to the 1930s

Hassled · 07/06/2017 20:59

If you can't decide on a party, look at the local candidates. Your local newspaper website is bound to have stuff if you search, or local party websites will have info - and think about how good a job the current MP has done, whether he/she seems like they care, how involved in and supportive of the community they've been. Think of the personalities rather than the policies, if that helps. Just don't not vote.

inkandstone · 07/06/2017 21:00

It's not my mortgage I'll be worried about if Labour get in ~ it's the prospect of the extra 3k a year I'll have to find for their Land Value Tax.

Minkfluffycat · 07/06/2017 21:03

My prefered party is absolutely the Green Party but I'm thinking of voting labour tactically as I just want the Tories out. But I'm really unsure whether that's the right thing to do?

justcurious40 · 07/06/2017 21:04

I just did this quiz and found it quite helpful: 38degrees.ge2017.com/quiz

AlternativeTentacle · 07/06/2017 21:06

it's the prospect of the extra 3k a year I'll have to find for their Land Value Tax.

It would not be extra tax, it would replace the other taxes. That is the point of it.

inkandstone · 07/06/2017 21:19

Really? So we won't be paying income tax or VAT?
