To ask what you would think if you saw someone wearing

If you saw someone in a supermarket or shop, or just out in public, wearing tinted grey glasses? Not sunglasses. What would you automatically think?

OP posts:
ShoesHaveSouls · 06/06/2017 11:16

It wouldn't register. My stepmum wore tinted glasses - only they were an orangey colour (it was the 80's!). I never even asked her why, come to think of it. I was a tad jealous as they made her eyes look really nice.

If I was asked to think about it, I would think they had some eye condition that made them sensitive to light.

CoolCarrie · 06/06/2017 11:17

Or suffered from light sensitivity

valeriej43 · 06/06/2017 11:17

What a strange question! my son has to wear tinted prescription glasses as he gets occular migraines which results in flashing colours, and hurts his eyes when in bright light
I wouldnt think anything ,or even particularly notice

jarhead123 · 06/06/2017 11:19

I'd think they had an eye condition.

Apart from when it's someone I know (and he thinks he is cool wearing them 24/7) lol

CowParsleyNettle · 06/06/2017 11:21

I don't think I would notice!

I had to say I have forgotten my glasses more than once and wondered round Waitrose with my prescription sunglasses on. I don't think anyone outwardly judged me!

DearMrDilkington · 06/06/2017 11:23

I wouldn't notice. What a strange question.

ArchieStar · 06/06/2017 11:24

Wouldn't even register to be honest!

RebornSlippy · 06/06/2017 11:25

I'm assuming that you are the one wearing the glasses, OP?

I would assume they had a vision problem of some sort and not having a clue what that was I would think about it no more. All that is assuming I registered it in the first place. Hell, I've seen people with guide dogs and haven't though much past, oh aren't guide dogs an amazing thing? That's little most people think about things like this I imagine.

RebornSlippy · 06/06/2017 11:26

I'm obviously liking the word assume today!

LiviaDrusillaAugusta · 06/06/2017 11:28

I wouldn't even register it. What other people look like isn't my business and it's a shame that other people don't think like this.

user1490817986 · 06/06/2017 11:28

I was asking as I wear them for my autism/sensory overload and I feel self-conscious sometimes. I had a woman behind the checkout looking at me funny/staring, i think she thought I was blind.

OP posts:
Miniwookie · 06/06/2017 11:28

I wouldn't think anything. What a weird question!

Miniwookie · 06/06/2017 11:30

Ah crossed posts. Honestly OP I wouldn't think anything. Does it matter if she thought you were blind? Try not to worry about it.

Wanttobehonest · 06/06/2017 11:30

Fibromyalgia. I think that is not what you want to hear but that is what I would think
"they might have fibromyalgia"

Coddiwomple · 06/06/2017 11:30

nothing at all!

bruffian · 06/06/2017 11:32

I wear sunglasses all the time. I hate bright light and it means I don't have to bother with mascara and they hide my wrinkles. I have 6 pairs.

I have never ever considered what other people might think.

I'm going to channel my mother now:

"noones looking at YOU dear! They are all too busy thinking about themselves!"

Wanttobehonest · 06/06/2017 11:32

Obviously I would have been wrong.
I have no issue with fibromyalgia or people wearing any glasses for any reason. But sometimes you have a thought and that is what mine would have been.

RebornSlippy · 06/06/2017 11:32

Maybe you had something stuck between your teeth, OP?

Seriously, nobody would think twice. Absolutely nothing to worry about. And if she thought you were blind, so what? I'll bet the woman wasn't even looking at you the way you thought she was. Don't let it affect you.

Coddiwomple · 06/06/2017 11:33

sorry crossed post. Don't let it bother you, she might be a million of miles away from what you are thinking:
-oh, sunglasses, I wonder where mine are
-I have a migraine coming, I should have taken my glasses with me
-that woman remind me of Nora from work, I wonder if she will bring back a cake from a holiday
-Did I left the window open, it's raining
-Should I have bought 2 bottles of milk instead of 1?

you could go on forever

TheSnorkMaidenReturns · 06/06/2017 11:36

I wouldn't notice

sleeponeday · 06/06/2017 11:37

My immediate thought was autism or SDP, because I have a sib and a child both on the spectrum. But I think most people would assume physical eyesight issues.

JustAMusing · 06/06/2017 11:37

user you wear them for similar reasons to me (have AS and light is one of my sensory 'things')

I think this is one of those times when people probably aren't thinking anything at all.

WorshipTheGourd · 06/06/2017 11:40

I'd prob not notice.
If I did I'd assume they were for an eye condition / sensory overload like my ds has them for.

OP, if they help (only you can know) then wear them.
Bugger anyone 'staring' ((())))

sleeponeday · 06/06/2017 11:40

If they noticed, as others have said - doubt most would.

DS worries about his ear defenders, though he feels better now he knows you can buy expensive music players that look the same. But I don't think it even registers with most people.

indigox · 06/06/2017 11:45

I have anxiety so avoid all eye contact with people in shops etc., I wouldn't notice.
