I cant stand him, i remember my mum and dad having the 'Goodbye Yellow Brick Road' album in the 70's, and I liked alot of the tracks. He looked pretty normal back then.

Its just his manner, his fake accent which slips into americanism. arghhhhhhhhhhh. so its your birthday you egocentric arse, who gives a monkeys.

elton john is fantastic. He's the kind of musician I aspire to. I went to see him play live two years ago and it was finominal. And he played for 2.5 hours flat with no break in between and he is a true master.

the only thing was...

he arrived by helicopter, two minutes before he came on stage, and he'd left, by helicopter, before we'd even left our seats.

but the concert was still amazing and I'd see him again tomorrow.

Definitely not being unreasonable. I too used to admire him back in those good ol' days.
BUT these days, all he ever does is spit feathers. What a sad man!

wannaBeWhateverIWannaBe · 22/03/2007 17:50

but at least he actually does perform which is more than can be said for the majority of artists these days.

ooh i love rocket man!

Gingermonkey · 22/03/2007 18:16

I love rocket man too. I can't look at Elton these days without thinking of Bo Selecta.

NoNoNoBodyInTheTomb · 22/03/2007 18:50

I'm with Roxy and the elephant's jacksi suggestion.

Though I guess that's cruelty to elephants.

Maybe he could just fart a massive cloud of ego, step backwards and disappear into that?

kookaburra · 22/03/2007 18:58

top thread!!! this is why i NEED mumsnet at the end of a loathsome day....

mishw · 22/03/2007 19:41

Could we please shove Paul McCartney up there too?!

NoNoNoBodyInTheTomb · 23/03/2007 12:14

Yeah, we could get a whole lot of celebs feed them industrial amounts of beans, then assemble them in a massive circle, shoulder-to-shoulder, facing outwards, and have someone like Graham Norton lead them in an orgy of self-congrtulatory shite until they all fart toxic ego levels, and disappear.

We can just tell 'em it's for comic relief or something, then they'll do it. You know these celebs, how they love to help those in need
