Serious problem with food

SugarnetMum · 04/06/2017 19:41

I struggle with any diet or routine I try. I used to be 15st at age 16 so have a life long problem with it and its more the attitude to food. Its all I think about !

I lost weight and at my skinniest was 10st but now I'm back up at around twelve..

I do no exercise really, I really need to hit this on the head. I know slimming world works but its sticking to it that's the problem ... I suffer with sticking to the routine, I know I could be the best version of myself if I ate more healthy, exercised a bit... But its hard!! I do like fruit and vegetables. Would happily eat meat and veg dinners all the time, its just when I loose the run of myself and get pizza etc and also eat too much..don't know what to do ffs

Maybe focus on finding a type of exercise that you enjoy, as a start rather than focusing on your diet? You sound so defeated, it may be that a change of plan will help. Even if it's something gentle at first - I've got a weighted hula hoop which I like because you can exercise in front of the telly Blush

I completely sympathise. I have struggled with weight as well. A good piece of advice I received was 'you can't out-exercise a bad diet'. I know you say you know slimming world, but if you can't stick to it, it isn't working. Whilst exercise is great to help you tone, lose weight faster, and muscle burns calories more efficiently than fat- however, 80% of weight loss is diet.

I try to find substitutes where possible. if I am craving pizza, for example, I will make a cauliflower pizza crust, but still get good quality mozzerella and tomatoes on it (even a few slices of pepperoni). Its about not starving yourself, but maybe finding good substitutes. I love thai food, so I make pad thai with courgette noodles, etc. Pinterest has really great healthy substitute recipes.

Have you tried having a food diary app on your mobile? Once you get in the habit, it really helps. I especially like it because I can keep track weekly, so if I know I have a big birthday dinner, for example, I can know that I worked out 3 times so I can have 2 glasses of wine and a dessert and still break even.

When I try keep food diaries I do it for 2 or 3 days ...then stop

Probably won't help but try keep busy! If you're preoccupied with walking / hobbies, joing a club, even knitting you'll be too busy to obsess about food ( and totally ignore my 'rule' of nothing to eat after 6 and at least an hour exercise daily as I am 5'7 and also 12 stone ). How tall are you Op- what's your 'ideal weight'

SugarnetMum · 05/06/2017 13:33

I'm 5'4 so overweight enough. Ideal weight 10 and a half stone.
