AIBU? London terror attack radio at childrens' playcenter

We are at a london softplay center with our 2 children this morning and they have the radio on throughout. At regular intervals there are news updates on the terrorist attack last night. I watched a father ask the staff to turn it off but they only lowered the volume. They lowered it further when I complained too but it is still on. Obviously exposure to some news is unavoidable, but surely not at a soft playcenter which even has a baby section?

Why do films have an age rating?

YANBU, the OP made it clear there were children in the playcentre, not just babies. Of course I didn't have the news on 24/7 when my children were 2-6, would have been deeply troubling for them. Told them things myself in an age appropriate way.

My 6 year daughter can understand exactly what they are saying.

I feel different parents can choose what information is appropriate for their child. The importance is that they have a choice. And my choice is that I don't want my child and toddler to hear about deaths, injuries and stabbings every 7 minutes whilst they play.

News I have read/seen recently that disturbed me: men drive van into pedestrians then get out and stab multiple people in the heads and necks. Husband puts a noose round his wife's neck and drags her behind his car for miles while their young son screams for her through the back window. Father rapes his baby to death.

These are real people, their suffering and death is reality, but is it going to help them, my child, or the world in general for my 3 year old to know all about it?

YANBU - my 4 yo picks up loads from the radio even when I don't think she's listening & her 3yo brother is starting to hear key words too.

DH & I haven't had radio on in the car since Manchester attack - 4yo is a worrier & I don't think she needs to know about these things just yet. Of course if she hears something we will talk to her in an age appropriate way but I agree it doesn't need to be on at soft play.

Yanbu, children should not be subjected to this. Sadly some adults have no bloody clue with this sort of thing. I once went to a fundraising quiz at a relatives primary school and there was a picture round where 2 of the pics were of Michael Stone (loyalist terrorist) and Josef fucking Fritzel.
