...we mustn't let democracy be de-railed by terrorists! What a victory a postponement would be to IS and their friend who despise our freedom and democracy.

No one has suggested it will be cancelled. We don't give in in the UK.

But they have... there's a petition!

The daily mail are only suggesting this because Labour are narrowing the Conservative lead.

Parker231 · 04/06/2017 09:03

What reason would there be to postpone?

Mummyoflittledragon · 04/06/2017 09:04

Parliament has been dissolved. It's a bit late. And wtf??!

alltouchedout · 04/06/2017 09:06

Yanbu

KitKat1985 · 04/06/2017 09:08

Yes its should go ahead. What would postponement achieve?

WhipWhipCrackAway · 04/06/2017 09:09

No officials are suggesting it, only keyboard warriors and idiots! Of course it should and will go ahead.

BigChocFrenzy · 04/06/2017 12:14

Ridiculous over reaction.
Parliament has been dissolved anyway, so the government can't just continue in limbo. That would be unconstitutional.
The GE must go ahead on the specified date

BigChocFrenzy · 04/06/2017 12:16

A democracy postponing a GE because of terrorism would be the biggest victory terrorists have ever achieved.
Then they would start bombing every other democratic country around the world to stop their elections too.

ForalltheSaints · 04/06/2017 12:17

I think it should. Daesh or jihadist sympathisers would feel a sense of victory if it was delayed.

PurpleMinionMummy · 04/06/2017 12:21

I don't think they can postpone it legally anyway?

Aridane · 04/06/2017 12:23

Irresponsible to suggest otherwise

Aridane · 04/06/2017 12:24

Sorry - mean to say irresponsible to suggest it shouldn't go ahead

LordPercy · 04/06/2017 12:25

I've just been arguing with my DM about this. Of course the election should go ahead. Why would we let these cretins interfere with the democratic process of the country? am livid this morning

sonjadog · 04/06/2017 12:26

What would be the point in postponing it? Who is going to take part in the Brexit talks when they start on the 19th if there hasn't´t been an election?

Code42 · 04/06/2017 12:26

Some halfwit started a petition on change. I've already voted - but hey, I'll vote again. Vote early, vote often.

I think one of the most vexatious uses of parliamentary time is the majority of petitions from the website, not least because you only have to tick a box to say you're in the UK...

ExplodedCloud · 04/06/2017 12:27

Purple yes you're right I think. There's no law that allows a postponement and currently no parliament to make a law.
