I am not as convinced as others that this is back door privitisation, having seen first hand for 20 years how bad the NHS is at managing their property. They do not have the resources to upkeep their properties and end up prioritising health care over facilities, so these facilities often are below standard and in disrepair
I am not a Conservative voter.
But I can see both the benefits and disbenefits.
I work in an NHSPS building which is run and regulated to high standards by a contractor. We pay them rent. We now do not have to waste time or money on running our own estates department. I have not been part of a Trust who owns their own property (and it's not rented) for a very very long time.
Also, community services can be more easily moved to where they are best when you are renting unlike when buildings are custom made and fixed state (like a hospital).
