Tonight's debate

It isn't really, is it? It is not a leaders debate it is a question and answer session.

Feel hopeful that David Dimbleby is leading especially after he made a point of pointing out how the media are anti-Corbyn.

TM sounding a bit desperate though.

Agree

startwig1982 · 02/06/2017 20:50

Some interesting awkward questions though.

AvaCrowder2 · 02/06/2017 20:51

I wish I could like her more.

She is arguing about leadership as if you vote for a pm in the UK. You vote for your constituent member who should represent your interests, and influence their party leader for you, even if they are not toeing the party line.

startwig1982 · 02/06/2017 20:52

At least she's saying more than strong and stable constantly.

zeezeek · 02/06/2017 20:53

If looks could kill most of that audience would be dead by now.

Looks like a good range of people in the audience though - a good age range.

Uh oh. DD has caught her out....

OP posts:
zeezeek · 02/06/2017 20:54

Startwig that's probably because this week has shown she's neither.

OP posts:
Orlantina · 02/06/2017 20:57

Putting more money in....

Nurses don't get an increase.

Orlantina · 02/06/2017 20:58

I recognise the job that you do...really.

squirreltrap · 02/06/2017 20:59

I see why she agreed to this

It's pretty easy questioning for an experienced politician

Orlantina · 02/06/2017 21:01

She's being patronising on public sector pay rises.

IFartGlitter · 02/06/2017 21:07

She's being patronising full stop.

zeezeek · 02/06/2017 21:17

She has shown that she doesn't have any respect for the public sector at all - nurses, teachers, all dismissed.

She debates JC on a weekly basis in parliament. Feel free to watch PMQ for the last few years.
This is an occasional opportunity for voters to question/debate with her

squirreltrap · 02/06/2017 21:24

PMQs is not a debate, JC has 7 questions per week and she is not expected to give a detailed answer and furthermore the answers from her are often just personal insults

If you want to class that as a debate, I am very surprised

zeezeek · 02/06/2017 21:28

Since when has PMQs been a debate?

She can't even defend her own policy. How many times did she just bitch about Labour?

OP posts:
Orlantina · 02/06/2017 21:32

She debates JC on a weekly basis in parliament

Grin

Really.....that's not a debate

yolofish · 02/06/2017 21:35

that nurse: no real terms payrise since 2009 "but its ok dear, we appreciate what you do"
and the outright damn lie about school funding, ringfencing, blah blah: actually every single state school in the country is seeing its money cut while this govt finances vanity projects.
had to stop watching!

zeezeek · 02/06/2017 21:35

And I've heard nothing critical about the conservatives from JC so far tonight. He's got a good rapport with the audience and isn't defensive. I'm a Blairite, but I'm impressed

OP posts:
ghostyslovesheets · 02/06/2017 21:37

PMQ is 'scripted'

stillawakeatthishour · 02/06/2017 21:40

Homestly, they are all as bad as each other.
No idea who i am voting forConfused

WhooooAmI24601 · 02/06/2017 21:41

She fell apart a bit outlining their social care policy; it's like she's at school giving a speech on a topic she's not revised much for. I want to feel sorry for her but she fails to make good use of her time on air to sway me into feeling anything but contempt.

JC has come across well, it's a bit outrageous that members of the audience are trying to goad him into admitting he'd be first to press the nuclear button. Of course nobody wants to bloody be the first to press the button. Even my despotic 6 year old would try his best not to be the first one to press it and he's a massive lunatic.

zeezeek · 02/06/2017 21:47

The whole point of having a nuclear weapon is as a deterrent. I can't imagine any PM wanting to push the button because that is the point at which humanity loses. I,m old enough to remember the threat of a nuclear war. One the bomb hits us it doesn't matter at all whether we retaliate. We're all dead.

I think some people in this world need to read Nevil Shute's The Beach. Fucking terrifying.

On a lighter note, have seen episodes of Yes, Minister where Trident is being discussed!!

OP posts:
bertsdinner · 02/06/2017 21:48

Yes, how dare they ask Corbyn awkward questions.

zeezeek · 02/06/2017 21:53

I do believe they are

OP posts:
bertsdinner · 02/06/2017 22:00

Not getting much of an answer though.
