AIBU to want to start a boycott of American goods ?

No idea how to start but seeing as #45 thinks the Paris deal was a con to take money from America - I want to hit him where it hurts. Everything America now produces to me is tainted and covered in the blood of our children - very dramatic but long term the truth.

Lots of Americans on MN, the vast majority of whom voted for Hillary. Do you plan to boycott us as well?

Ginger782 · 02/06/2017 05:42

Seneca, the idea would put pressure on big businesses, which in turn puts pressure on the government.

SuperBeagle · 02/06/2017 06:54

You'd have to get a hell of a lot of people boycotting a hell of a lot of businesses to make the slightest dent in big businesses. It's not as straightforward or easy as this thread is making it seem.

I'm trying to boycott EU goods. I'll see if I can add the US goods to the list, too.Grin

purits · 02/06/2017 07:04

My boycott of US goods will include Cadburys. There's a big sacrifice.
NOT!

we were going to the states on holiday and we changed destination after the muslim ban fiasco. I can't boycott everything, but I am buying alternatives where possible. America is slipping, I don't think they see it but they can be as great as they wanna be but if the world carries on stronger in a different direction then it will have an effect on them. I hope when we leave the EU we build stronger trade links with china, india ect. as Merkle said, we can't rely on the US anymore. He is to irrational

sharklovers · 02/06/2017 07:07

It's about time we as a country grew a pair and did the same thing, what a massive waste of money.

C3H8O · 02/06/2017 07:09

Oh to be naïve and idealistic.

SuperBeagle · 02/06/2017 07:13

user China is on the verge of an economic crisis which will be far more catastrophic than what the US saw in 2008... Wouldn't be hedging my bets on China if I were leading a country.

user At least I know the difference between your and you're. Oh, the pain in my arse is just common or garden piles, easily sorted.

purits · 02/06/2017 07:20

That was brave of you! I'm never setting foot there until they sort out gun ownership. Who wants to go to a country that believes that it is a fundamental human right to have the means to shoot your neighbour? Scary place.

LondonNicki · 02/06/2017 07:20

*Superbeagle
Atenco Are you boycotting the products of the other countries involved?

The other countries are Syria and Nicaragua. Draw your own conclusions. What a cynical comment.

user1466690252 · 02/06/2017 07:23

shark yes, my grammar is the most important point in all this 😂

sharklovers eeedee I'd vote for ISIS*

Well gosh you didn't just make yourself look like an unhinged ducking wanker at all did you user?

HmmConfused

user1466690252 · 02/06/2017 08:58

uh huh. because saying you would vote for ISIS before labour and have such hatred for anyone who disagrees with you isn't unhinged at all.

SuperBeagle · 02/06/2017 09:08

London Mate, the person I replied to said they haven't supported American goods since the Invasion of Iraq. My response had sweet fuck all to do with the Paris Accord.

Atenco · 02/06/2017 14:56

SuperBeagle, it has been one thing after the other.
