To think shower shouldn't leak on first use - had enough of plumbers

Why??

Shower in en-suite has been completely replaced. It leaked before that into the room below because previous owners had bodged it - there wasn't a tray when we viewed the house and they'd promised to get it sorted, but you could see the sealant wasn't done properly and the tiling at the bottom wasn't done. I leaked, obviously, so hasn't been used in the last fours years.

It's all been ripped out and started again and I used it for the first time yesterday and it leaked into the kitchen again. How can that be? Apparently it isn't a standard size so I think the tray is a bit too small for it. There is a lot of filler around the edge but no sealant I think? The stuff that sometimes peals of when it's old.

If that's it shouldn't it be simple to fix? FFS, one plumber disappeared halfway through the job (I think when he realised nothing would fit there) and now this. This plumber was recommended to me and seemed to know what he was doing.

AIBU to expect him to come and sort it?

Get they guy who fitted it to come back and sort it, simple!

Yes, it should work first time, but maybe there's some underlying issue causing the leak, or maybe he made a mistake that's easy to sort, or maybe he's a crap plumber. Who knows? But he needs to come back.

If it got ripped out and started again, sounds like it should have been replaced with something that's is a standard size.

Is it an odd shaped room or something?

theduchessstill · 01/06/2017 09:57

Yes an odd shaped room. B and Q wouldn't touch it. Plumber is coming back tomorrow.
