But if we don't implement it....what will the rise be?

Roussette · 01/06/2017 20:47

Bloody hell, he is talking such bollocks. If it was so awful, no one would've signed up for it in the first place.

BuckinghamLass · 01/06/2017 20:47

Love the statement from Obama.

As well as all the world leaders, I can't believe Trump would disregard business and industry leaders, who are going to be the ones spearheading climate change initiatives in the US now. It makes sense that he's been bankrupt so many times. Stupid man.

Roussette · 01/06/2017 20:48

How the hell is he going to be the most environmentaly friendly country in the world, with the cleanest air?

How?

Lweji · 01/06/2017 20:49

‘We’re getting out, but we’ll start to negotiate and we’ll see if we can make a deal that’s fair’

It sounds to me like he's still sitting on the fence. Pleasing his core supporters (and Bannon) but not an immediate thing.

CaveMum · 01/06/2017 20:49

He keeps going off script.

Roussette · 01/06/2017 20:50

Senate minority leader Chuck Schumer described Trump’s decision as “a devastating failure of historic proportions.”
“Future generations will look back on President Trump’s decision as one of the worst policy moves made in the 21st century because of the huge damage to our economy, our environment and our geopolitical standing,” Schumer said in a statement.
“Pulling out of the Paris agreement doesn’t put America first, it puts America last in recognizing science, in being a world leader and protecting our own shore line, our economy and our planet,” he added. “It’s now crystal clear President Trump is comfortable both ceding the moral high ground and the economic upper hand to countries like China, and endangering the future of our planet.”

Orlantina · 01/06/2017 20:51

High growth and high standard of living does not necessarily mean high environmental standards.

Roussette · 01/06/2017 20:51

I don't understand Lweji because earlier on he said they were pulling out 'as of today'

Don't s'pose he knows either

Orlantina · 01/06/2017 20:51

The same countries asking the US to stay are the rest of the world.

AcrossthePond55 · 01/06/2017 20:51

We turned on CNN. Not sure how long we'll be able to handle it.

I don't recall ever hearing of a US factory 'closing down' simply because of the Paris Accord. I'm sure it costs them more money to be cleaner but that's the price of being a good citizen of the world. Wait...what am I saying!!! It's not about the world, it's all about the money.

DH and I are going to start a drinking game. Every time one of us shouts FUCK YOU at the TV we take a shot. We'll be dead drunk within 15 minutes, "I guarantee you".

Roussette · 01/06/2017 20:52

Brian Deese, a former senior adviser to Barack Obama who led the previous administration’s efforts on climate, said Trump’s decision marked a retreat from “a total global consensus” on the need to combat global warming.
“The diplomatic blowback will be significant,” he said, while pointing to the widespread support for the Paris accord among every one of America’s key allies.
“Diplomacy is a give and take,” Deese added.
“The next time the United States is looking for partnership, a lot of these countries will legitimately say when it came to an issue we cared about, you weren’t there for us.” And that’s a meaningful thing.”

Orlantina · 01/06/2017 20:52

They're laughing at you now.

#covfefe

Orlantina · 01/06/2017 20:52

Ummmm. Paris is representative of the whole world.

Roussette · 01/06/2017 20:53

I feel like you too! "I was elected to represent Pittsburgh not Paris"

What total ignorance

FUCK OFF Grin

lionheart · 01/06/2017 20:54

Bollocks.

Orlantina · 01/06/2017 20:55

If you help other countries, you make friends and help the world.

He doesn't give a fuck about the rest of the world.

Maybe the rest of the world shouldn't give a fuck about him.

AcrossthePond55 · 01/06/2017 20:56

Join the game and take a shot Rousette. We just did!

Orlantina · 01/06/2017 20:56

Orlantina · 01/06/2017 20:58

It is. This is like Theresa May and the EU.

Roussette · 01/06/2017 20:59

"Trump pointed to a shadowy global conspiracy that created the Paris deal to steal US treasure and insult her citizenry. This is the Bannon section."

He keeps on about the american people, he doesn't care jack shit about the american people

BiglyBadgers · 01/06/2017 20:59

His whole schtick has been about America being picked on and held back by the rest of the world. They are the victim of a worldwide conspiracy to stop America being the magic land of unicorns and apple pie, aided and abated by the evil liberal elite. His core support will see this as him sticking one to the enemy and a sign of his big strong manly manness.

They really are idiots I'm afraid.
