cozie that's so lovely of you to ask about DD, thank you. She's fine, she's out with friends. She's a weird mixture - she's very confident and generally quite laid back but also quite intense and a bit of a deep thinker. She's very political for a 14 year old and a real eco warrior. I think that Trump has really shaken her in the sense that she has always generally trusted adults but is now questioning that as she sees a supposedly great nation electing a giant toddler. I have a couple of American friends who are mortified about Trump and they have had some long chats with her. I have reassured her that the USA pulling out of the agreement doesn't mean that the world is about to end.
There is a massive storm going on here - it all feels a bit Apocalyptic.

March for Truth is tomorrow nationwide in the US, right? It'll be interesting to see the turnout.

There he goes, breaking more rules

White House orders agencies to ignore Democrats’ oversight requests
Trump’s aides are trying to shut down the release of information that could be used to attack the president.

Can't say this strongly enough.

This breaks a fundamental part of democracy and checks & balances if allowed.

Sadly the idiot will take this as a compliment or a WIN.

It's not a lie. It's how he presents it. Straight out of Sir Humphrey.

cozietoesie · 02/06/2017 17:36

Give her my apologies, MrsHoolies. And advise her to persist.

(I'm pleased she's a bit better in any case.)

Lies, damn lies and statistics..

If Kushner was pro-Paris - and that's a big 'If' - then his position vis a vis Bannon is decidedly shaky.

Obama on climate change

cozietoesie · 02/06/2017 18:08

I couldn't watch it, I fear, Orlantina.

Here's a sobering piece from Vox.

What Trump neglected to say

cozietoesie · 02/06/2017 18:09

Or rather 'missaid'.

Obama on climate change with his 'anger translater' (White House Correspondent's dinner)

cozietoesie · 02/06/2017 18:14

Sorry. I meant I couldn't bear to watch it in the current circumstances. Sad

President Trump's re-election campaign just sent out release for a rally near White House tomorrow to support his Paris Accord decision.

lionheart · 02/06/2017 18:22

I hadn't seen that before, Orlantina.

Orlantina · 02/06/2017 18:23

Me neither. I've seen the Congress man who has no idea what climate change really means but not Obama doing that.

AcrossthePond55 · 02/06/2017 18:31

The potential 'buy outs' for EPA employees is rather interesting. I've know that to happen only once in the 35 years of my career at my former agency. It had a very, very narrow 'audience' and was used to (in some cases) 'pressure' out people in management who were already of age and qualified for 'full' pension but who were staying put to earn more years of service (=higher pension). It was done to get rid of bloated management numbers and to bring in a more 'streamlined management with 'younger ideas'.

It will be very interesting to see exactly who is the focus of potential buyouts. I can pretty much guarantee that it won't be the 'rank and file' of employees.
