No matter what your politics and I am no Corbyn fan, what a bully and self centred bellend Paxman is. Let the man answer; it's not about you Paxman.

Maybe Eric Monkman could take over the political interviews. He'd be very polite and would enunciate very clearly.

Yanbu.

I think Corbyn won that one; he was very calm and dignified and when given the opp did actually answer the questions. Treeza, oth, was given enough rope to hang herself, quite simply because she couldnt answer any of them

Ravenblack · 29/05/2017 22:29

YANBU. Seems to me that he was determined to talk to Corbyn like he was a piece of shit before he came on.

Mitzy Grin Grin

YABU OP, but only for insulting "twats"

He is a prize dickhead, rude, horrible and if I remember correctly a fan of bloodsports.

I thought JC handled himself extremely well at both interviews. When he was asked about his lack of leadership qualities, he didn't get flustered at all, didn't seem to take it personally, but answered very convincingly. Yes, the man's got no charisma, but he's got a very good head on those shoulders. He oozed sincerity if nothing else.

TM on the other hand, was very wobbly. She tried to look strong and stable whatbwith those hand gestures and lots of fake smiling, but it came across artificial and trying-too-hard. I don't hate her, she is a decent lady (I guess), but I like JC better.

I remember one if first main 'skills' we were taught at uni was to not give your opponents chance to talk.

I always think the Tories must have gone to the same uni as me because if you watch ANY interview with a Tory MP you'll see they've honed this skill to perfection.

It doesn't matter if you haven't answered the question posed at you as long as the other person can't get a word in edgeways Hmm

Corbyn came across as very calm, but then I think they forget he's been doing this all his life and knows how to deal with them.

*of the first. Not if.

I've never liked Paxman. That kind of aggressive, interrupting style of questioning is utterly counter-productive.

Compare and contrast with Eddie Mair on Radio 4's PM, who always gives interviewees time to answer. He still asks difficult questions but he does it politely - and gets much better results.
