They have it in Australia! I would love to use it! It would make things so much easier For me.

Who else thinks this would be a great idea? I know some people can't use technology, so it wouldn't be helpful for them.

Dorothea, voting is not always accessible though, if you have a visual/print disability for example. It depends from polling station to polling station what's available. In this sense, online voting would be a huge help.

Do you think online voting will make people more likely to take an interest in politics and current affairs, not just in the run up to an election, but as a normal part of every day life? Do you think online voting will mean people are more likely to make an informed decision about their vote? Those are the issues that need to be addressed.

Are you suggesting that we should all take some sort of test to establish our reasons for voting for our choice of candidate? Or are you trying to say only people who vote at a polling station have the level of intelligence and commitment you seem appropriate? Because I think my family member in the services would disagree. As would my dil whose job means she is out of the house before polling stations open and often doesn't get home until after they close. She votes by post but would probably prefer online.

Voting is not just a right, it's a privilege, and one of the most important things you can do as an adult. If people can go to the pub or to get a takeaway, surely they can be bothered to go to the polling station.

I'm sure the many hundreds of voters who queued for hours in order to cast their vote in 2010, only to be turned away because the doors had to close at 10pm, would have something to say about your comment. Don't assume that people don't vote because they can't be bothered.
