Aparently they have run out.

People aren't purposely spreading 'lies' though, they're trying to be helpful
Do people seriously believe that there are not resources in place to deal with these incidents? When they start bombing multiple hospitals at same time I would start worrying that we may not be able to treat people.

Thanks OP for starting this thread. Regardless of whether they have run out of blood or not, surely this is a good topic to raise awareness for!

I'm O- and I went to give blood and they politely told me they were very grateful but as my veins are incredibly difficult to find and it took forever once they did as it was a slow drip, that I'm not suitable.

It's a shame as I didn't realize until recently that anyone can have O- and I would love to help.

There is even a news article highlighting how people are spreading fake posts about missing people :-(

You don't need to be near Manchester. They'll transport it around the country if they need to.

RhiWrites · 23/05/2017 19:05

On BBC news a head nurse said "over the next 4-6 weeks please make an appointment to donate blood especially if o negative." They don't need people rushing off to Manchester but do sign up to be s blood donor if you'd like to help.

YANBU but they don't want everybody's blood. I have wanted to donate several times but because I have had (ALWAYS safe only) sex in the last year I can't whereas my straight counterpart who has had unprotected sex many times (from what he says) in the last 12 months can Hmm This isn't the thread though so I will just encourage anybody that can and is able to do so, and not just for this either. Giving blood can save lives and if you are able to and willing to do so and have the time, then go for it.
