I'm a size 10, 5'4, but the definition of skinny fat. I'm not big but I'm a bit wobbly. I have a couple of pairs of shorts that fall above mid-thigh. I know we can wear what we like but would you inwardly judge? I'm mid 20s.

Hate hate hate this insistence that pale white skin is something to be hidden away and covered up either with smelly fake goop or by frying healthy skin in the sun.

It's ridiculous and offensive. It's a skin colour.

Fine if your personal preference is for your own skin to be tanned but to tell someone else to 'get some colour' as they'll look healthier or less bad is not on.

OP Absolutely no-one but you will look at your legs. If you want to wear shorts then wear them.

Use a gradual fake tan moisturiser - I like Dove. Easy to apply as it's not actually fake tan so doesn't go streaky and gives (me anyway) much more confidence.

What world are we living in when a normal sized, healthy woman worries about being 'judged' for wearing a perfectly decent garment?

EnidButton I do agree but my legs are so incredibly pale I can't help feeling self-conscious on a sunny day, they literally reflect the light so much it probably hurts to look at them! I wish tanning were not the norm though Sad I wear factor 50 on my face, neck, etc. and a lower factor on my legs, and I stay in the shade as much as possible or I burn. I know tanned looks more 'healthy' but I'd rather keep my skin healthy and youthful and be pale than have a 'healthy tan' but end up like an old leather bag... Blush

If you don't feel confident, buy a slightly longer pair. I don't think very short shorts look good unless you are toned with smooth skin. The same way cropped tshirts only look good if you have defined abs and no wobble.

Short shorts also look a bit odd off the beach.
