Anyone up? Do I keep DD off school or not?

I'm in Oz...it's morning here. Yesterday evening DD aged 9 felt a bit "off" said her tummy hurt and she felt sick.

In the night, DH got up and was very sick about 4 times...he's had to stay off work and still feels sick...

DD has woken up and feels nauseous..she doesn't know DH was sick in the night....do I just send her? I sort of "know" it's a bug...if I send her and she's sick at school I'd feel terrible...if she's not...then it's a day off for nothing.

Surely a day off for nothing is better than public vomiting??

Sukitakeitoff · 21/05/2017 23:24

I would keep her off. Even if she doesn't actually throw up, you know she's got the same bug as your DH so a day off to recover is definitely needed.

I'd probably keep her off in the circumstances. I've done the same when one of mine was feeling sick in the morning before school and the other has had a sickness bug two days before (having been sick in school!) Actually she was fine and didn't catch it but I still think it was the right thing to do. It would be worse for her to be sick in school than to be off and not be ill.

Keep her off

slyoldfoxystoat · 21/05/2017 23:26

I would keep her off.

Keep her off. Better than risking spreading the infection.

Queen I'm leaning that way...the worry is that she had two days off a few weeks ago thanks to a bad cold...but what can you do? I don't want to pass it round everyone...

I would keep her off too. I hope they are both feeling better soon (and you don't catch the bug yourself!) Flowers

LouHotel · 21/05/2017 23:28

To be fair she may just be a carrier for the bug rather than present symptoms like your partner. So by keeping her off your protecting other children who might be suspetible to it.

But 10 quid says she's throws up in the next 12 hours.

Ok....it's unanimous then. I'll tell school. Thanks everyone...I always know I'll get sensible advice here.

I'd keep her off. It's pretty obvious she's got what DH has and even if she doesn't end up vomiting she will still be contagious so she'll be spreading it about.
