Another pair of jojo wellies bites the dust after 3 weeks!

Posted on 28th April about a pair of jojomamanbebe wellies, which are advertised as being suitable for splashing all day, which failed after 3 weeks. They were very nice and replaced them.

The new pair have just split, same place, after 3 weeks!

Was very annoyed last time as although they were nice and replaced no quibble, they told me that head office were saying they're fashion boots. Their website blurb clearly contradicts that. Plus honestly, when you buy wellies for kids you expect them to last more than 3 weeks.

Just a warning, folks...

Thanks! Do not understand what kind of fool would think children needed 'fashion boots' but will definitely be avoiding!

ShoeJunkie · 20/05/2017 21:54

I've had several pairs split - Jojo have been good about replacing them but I won't be buying more from them.

glueandstick · 20/05/2017 22:05

Closes the jojo tab as was about to buy some.

Can anyone recommend some size 5's that are generous around the calf for my little prod leg?

ShoeJunkie · 20/05/2017 22:09

I bought some from Next that don't come up high on chunky DS2's calves.

Jakeyboy1 · 20/05/2017 22:10

Have had a few pairs always been fine...

Giraffeski · 20/05/2017 22:12

We had the same problem- gorgeous boots, split round the seams and John replaced no problems. Now the replacements have just split as well so I've given up and bought some from M&S who have some really nice ones- I've had a few pairs from marks over the years and never a problem.

Giraffeski · 20/05/2017 22:14

Glueandstick- don't get Mothercare ones if you're after wide calves- bought some that 2 year old DS couldn't even get over his calves with bare legs, let alone with socks and trousers on!
M&S seem ok for this.

crumble82 · 20/05/2017 22:16

We've had 3 pairs of jojo wellies and they always split after a couple of months max. I don't waste my money on them anymore.

Camelsinthegobi · 20/05/2017 22:16

Poco nido wellies are great for chubby legs and high insteps. I couldn't get ordinary wellies on his feet at size 5 but these were great!

CatsRidingRollercoasters · 20/05/2017 22:19

I got some good ones for my dd from Tesco. They're quite wide in the calf I'd say and they're lasting very well.

Sounds like JoJo need to up their game! Fashion boots for toddlers? FFS.

IWillOnlyEatBeans · 20/05/2017 22:20

Try Baby Boggs

IWillOnlyEatBeans · 20/05/2017 22:20

*bogs!

Intransige · 20/05/2017 22:24

DD has Mikk Line wellies, they last really well.

Fashion boots (that look identical to wellies) for small children is a bonkers idea.

Kitsandkids · 20/05/2017 23:27

I get my kids' wellies from Sports Direct. The last pair they each had lasted almost two years and still had plenty of wear in, just were too small by then (I got them a size bigger than they were at the time so they'd last a while but I didn't think they'd do for that long!) About a tenner a pair I think. Their new pair from there have lights in. I thought the lights would go after the first puddle was stepped in but they've worn them a few times over the last month or so and they still light up.

AlphaBites · 20/05/2017 23:48

I always get Hunter wellies for mine. She has thrashed them, they get worn on a near daily basis in the winter and I've never had one leak. Always sold them on for a good resale price too !

budgiegirl · 20/05/2017 23:57

Countrywide ! After spending a fortune on wellies from various different shops that never lasted, I gave up and bought a pair for £17 from Countrywide. Very glamorous, but have lasted 5 years (worn almost every day in winter) and stil going strong. Quite wide in the calf .,

Talkingfrog · 21/05/2017 00:17

Glueandstick- I am not sure about the calf but my dd has a wide foot and high arch. We find that shoezone are a good fit as they are more generous python elsewhere. She struggles to get wellies from next, m&s Tec on her feet. They are not expensive when she was in nursery and had a growth spurt I ended up buying 4 new pairs (home, nursery and a pair at each grandparents as they shared the childcare). We have done plenty of puddle splashing and never had a split.

Nyancat · 21/05/2017 00:28

I've got my two boots from lidl the last few years. They are fantastic if you can spot them. Usually fleece lined and light up and last forever!

outnumbered38 · 21/05/2017 07:41

I always buy from Asda as they have lovely pink glittery ones! Never had a pair split. Three weeks is shocking!

Pollaidh · 22/05/2017 22:11

They've refunded no quibble, saying this must be a bad batch (which is not what they said last time!).

Sent DH out to get replacement 'cheap wellies', thinking he'd try Clarks or Millets. He only went and came back with £35 Hunters... Apparently it was the cheapest boot in the shop (Russell & Bromley) and he's no idea how much wellies should cost. They'd better bloody last.

DD has a pair of £5 shoe zone ones that have lasted and lasted for coming up to a year now

MrsMulder · 22/05/2017 22:34

I second the Lidl ones, ours have lasted ages and the children love the lights!

purpleshortcake · 22/05/2017 22:59

These Dino wellies from John Lewis are similar to the JoJo ones and have so far lasted 2 years and going strong. We bought them in red but looks like they are now in blue. Not as striking but they've lasted well!

Pollaidh · 23/05/2017 21:08

Thanks Purple. He loved the dino boots. If/when the hunters give up I'll try JL.
