To not want a white car

DH and I went car shopping today. Found a lovely Vauxhall Insignia, all the bells and whistles, high spec car, within budget but it's white.
It has everything we need with space and gadgets and boot size but I don't want a white car. All the other non white cars are a lower spec but for the same price.
AIBU to not want a white car or am I being ridiculous and precious?

I have a white car. I chose a white car though, from a range of following of options. Only other option I was interested in was a pastel blue but they didn't do it in the particular model I went for.

For most cars I would only go for black or white.

Meh it's a car ConfusedGrin

We have a white car, it's just the colour the one available was.

Another one from the black cars look filthy...wouldn't swap it though

My mum drives an orange car so I can't really comment on bad colours Grin

ceevee I had a coffee coloured Fiat 500 with the brown and beige interior too! I swapped it last year for a (red with white roof and stripes) five door Mini. Even though the Mini is tricked out and has a lot more power and room, I really miss my Fiat. Was a brilliant little car and I had so many compliments over the colour.

OP white looks ace on a few car models. Unfortunately, a Vauxhall insignia is not one of these.

An older relative had a white car and was convinced that other drivers were better-behaved (e.g. not pulling out in front of her from side streets) because they thought it might be a police car ...

I don't remember it ever looking dirty - she lived in a city suburb and it got washed once a week in her driveway.

PrancingQueen · 21/05/2017 11:33

I live in Essex and the white car has taken over from the white stiletto. There's a garage in a town near me that sells 4x4s. Most of which are white blinged-up range rovers Grin

We bought a car for the spec, even though it was a black estate and looks a bit like a hearse.

It shows up the dirt/dust, but washing cars is dh's job so I don't care is a pleasure to drive due to the spec. It even has automatic parallel parking which is the dogs bollocks, I can now park anywhere I need to easily.

I've just bought a new car. There are at least a million white ones available so I've just waited. After a month I've found one locally in a colour I like and with a higher spec. Glad I waited.

You did lose me on Insignia too though...

cakesandphotos · 21/05/2017 13:16

To be honest, with the Insignia it's the look of the interior that appeals. I'm less keen on the long style.
DH has seen a Renault Scenic and its maroon. Not sure that's better really

Make sure no-one over 5ft 4 ever rides in the back as they won't be able to sit upright due to the ridiculously sloping roof...

I hate riding in my parent's Insignia! I always get neck ache from banning to slouch and keep my head forward

ceeveebee · 21/05/2017 14:31

Craic we bought it used last year so could well be the same one!

TheCraicDealer · 21/05/2017 14:41

If the reg starts DXZ....well, I'm just glad Margot has found a loving home 😢

ceeveebee · 21/05/2017 15:06

No not the same, but I love the name!
