to wonder why the media and tory voters don't ridicule the Conservative manifesto for being totally uncosted?

and in a similar vein, why Diane Abbot getting figures wrong is a major story whereas Phillip Hammond and Michael Gove getting figures wrong isn't?

It's not all about economics though - I wouldn't vote Labour as I don't trust them on defence, Brexit, rural issues, and I think the Unions have way too much power.

ivykaty44 · 20/05/2017 19:31

Murdoch has always decided through media who he wants in government, so we get to choose this time

Murdoch or corbyn

We will get what we deserve when we vote

PortiaCastis · 20/05/2017 19:31

I will not vote Tory as I do not trust them on anything

JamieXeed74 · 20/05/2017 19:32

The debt increase under the coalition is because of the deficit left by Labour. You do know the difference between debt and deficit? The deficit has come down massively. That is quite reassuring.

I'm wondering about the idea of Labour being economically incompetent in comparison to the Conservatives.

I know that the last time that Labour were in power was in 2010 (before the 2010 General Election), but they seemed to be pretty economically competent with Gordon Brown first of all as Chancellor and then as PM from 2007 to 2010. What does everyone else think?

Is it more that the chancellors since Gordon Brown and Tony Blair have been seen as incapable of managing the economy well? So Alan Johnson, Ed Balls, Chris Leslie and John McDonnell (as well as other high-profile Labour ministers in the shadow cabinet) are seen as incompetent when it comes to managing the economy?

ivykaty44 · 20/05/2017 19:38

No the Tory government have been useless with money for the last 70 years each and every time they get into power

scaryteacher · 20/05/2017 19:40

Brown thought he has 'abolished boom and bust', which was incorrect. The only positive thing I could say about Brown was that he had the sense to keep us out of the Euro, but whether that was from conviction, or a desire to spite Blair, I don't know.

I was not at all keen on the vast expansion of tax credits as it seemed to me to be establishing a client base.

PortiaCastis · 20/05/2017 19:41

Pay decent wages and tax credits will not be needed

Natsku · 20/05/2017 19:47

The media in the UK has always been a bit biased towards the Tories but I think nowadays its also a case of media manipulation and disinformation being spread, just like in the US and France and Brexit. People need to be really careful about taking anything at face value and fact check everything.

makeourfuture · 20/05/2017 19:58

they have go the country into more debt than was even imaginable?

It is stunning.

And analysts say this manifesto does absolutely nothing to address it.

  • No Plan for Brexit
  • No plan for extreme debt
  • Decide the answer is to cut off free lunch for children

Amazing.

deeedeee · 20/05/2017 21:08

it's quite breathtaking.
