I don't know if you have seen about this balloon thing you swallow and they inflate and it fills your tum up with this balloon. Well it's 3000 pounds done privately not yet available on the nhs according to the DAILY FAIL. I am just wondering if this is the magic wand I need to lose 3 freaking stone! Where do I go any idea?

If your problem is your psychological relationship with food then maybe see if you can get some counseling to help you?

There's no point getting a quick fix if you will end up putting the weight back on.

This is something that's interested me, as someone with an immense amount to lose. But I'm disabled, can barely move room to room so exercise is tough, and as I have horrendous arthritis I struggle to prepare food so end up with cheap fast food. This would be of great interest- if I had 3 grand! Bit fed up with being told every single health complaint I may have is down to being overweight yet when I ask for help there is none.

Have you checked to see if you are eligible for surgery Goldilocks?

I'm sorry it's so hard to get help for weight problems.

I have to admit I've never asked if surgery is an option as I think I'm too big for it with other health issues. I have asked for help before, once was referred to a dietitian who gave me a leaflet with info I could read on the net and once given diet pills for a month. I'm not even sure what weight you'd have to be to get surgery, a lot less than me I assume!

If you are comfort eating then maybe see a psychologist to see if they can help you. Not cheap, but less than that.

My friend had the balloon and lost four stone on it but put it back on as it didn't address her emotional eating.

My dh is also considering it now but I've talked him out of it for the same reasons x

Watch out for rapid weight loss. Gallstones are fucking agonising!!!

I had some nhs therapy - CBT. The therapist was bigger than me. I actually found it really hard to be honest with her about my issues with food as I felt really awkward.

My DS is seeing a psychologist at the moment and I have noticed that she specializes in weight related although DS isn't seeing her for that. I'm hopefully going to see her or ask her to recommend someone.

Mrsmadevans - I'm a bit like you. I can eat well and healthy non processed foods and feel great and lose weight. Then something triggers me and it's as if I'm in a daze and I eat bread, crisps and various crap. I don't binge on food but healthy eating goes out the window. I also drink too much and then get th munchies.

I'm going to look into the balloon. And it is the Elipse balloon I am talking about. There is no surgery involved so no risk there. Obviously there will be downsides but I am going to ask about them. And make an informed decision.
