After years of pain post gallbladder removal I've finally been diagnosed with it after an Mrcp scan.
Googled it but all seems to be American sites, my gastroenterologist said he's rarely met a patient with it :/

Yep. Lansoprazole and avoiding anything with codeine sorted it. The Codeine gave me acute pancreatitis. Had GTN spray for a while pre-Lansoprazole. I also try to avoid double cream, full-fat cheese etc as high fat food can give me gallstone-type rib pain.

Thank you all, already on omeprazole and ranitidine. Think stress is a trigger too.
I will ask about gtn spray it's worth a try :)

I had never heard of this until I started to get severe pain and sweating if I drank alcohol mixed with fruit juice, e.g. gin and orange or cider and blackcurrant ( when it used to be popular!)

Within a few minutes I would be bent double and needing to go home. I realised I was also getting the same symptoms whenever I took codeine on an empty stomach.
I googled the symptoms and it came up with this. Now, I just avoid the causes. One of my sons has exactly the same problem.

Gosh it really does seem like a few are affected

How many "attacks" do those who suffer get? Mine are increasing its nearly daily and no trigger. Pain is horrendous.
Probably not linked but so run down too, no voice, sore throat, mouth full of ulcers etc

I react to codeine since my gallbladder was removed. Was in hospital recently for abdominal pains and I told them this. I was given morpheine instead. The pain from the morpheine was worse than the pain I'd been admitted with! I didn't realise it was an actual thing.... and none of the doctors I saw in hospital mentioned it either. Sad
