Van for sale in way!

So....we live 2 houses down from a close, but our house is on a main road. We are selling a van which we bought earlier in the year for someone who worked for husbands business and now doesn't, hence the sale. So it's been parked there about a month with for sale signs in window, has tax and MOT and insurance etc so all legal. We have parked it up the close , facing the main road so people can see the signs. It's been on auto trader for this time, had 3 viewings but no sale.
I got a call today from our next door neighbour, I don't think she knew it was me but I could tell it was her, asking why it was parked there and could I move it. She said it's facing the wrong way so if someone pulled into the close at night they might cash into it and also people think it belongs to them because its nearest their house.

Now it's a public road, I'm not breaking the law and part of me can see it might be annoying but the other half wants to tell her to mind her own business! She can't see it from her house as she has a massive hedge in the way.
AIBU ??

Someone parked a car with a for sale sign actually on the pavement in our road for a few months once. It did annoy me, can't quite put my finger on why - it was not exactly in the way as it is an extra wide bit of pavement on a corner; but nor is my road a used car salesroom. I didn't complain to anyone.

Does webuyanycar.com take vans? (Webuyanyvan.com?!). They pay a bit less than you would get selling privately but if you want to get shot of it quickly...

RestingBitch · 19/05/2017 17:32

I'm sure our local council fines people for leaving for sale cars on the side of the road. It's a busy road and the main route into the town. There's usually about 10-15 cars for sale at anyone time. Needless to say it's dangerous.

If it's been for sale for that long isn't it easier to take it to a local van place and sell it too them or a we buy and car sort of thing. You might get less for it than you wanted. But your currently paying tax and insurance on it so it would probably even out.

Why would having a different vehicle in the space be any different? Still got an engine and 4 wheels!!
Wish I had a van to park in front of awful neighbour who complains 'her' light is blocked if anyone parks outside her house!
Dh wants to hire a Luton for a week and park it there!!

AlexaAmbidextra · 19/05/2017 18:13

I think you've got a fucking cheek. Park the eyesore outside your own house.

NanooCov · 19/05/2017 18:15

Presumably if she's said that people think it's hers she's had people knocking on her door enquiring (or possibly complaining) about it? That would be a pain in the arse so if that's the case YABU.

70isaLimitNotaTarget · 19/05/2017 18:34

Eh? Who says it's an eyesore?

She probably has had people knocking on her door about it ( in which case she could send them round to you.....get rid of the van quicker)

My window looks out on a behemoth van that belongs to a neighbour.
I grizzle as I reverse into my drive , it gets tricker month by month with more traffic

user1474439326 · 19/05/2017 19:36

It's not an eyesore - it's a perfectly nice van - it's parked up the side of her house behind a hedge so she can't even see it.
However like I say I'll love it somewhere else for now, get the MOT done and hope it sells!

Legal but bloody inconsiderate! Put it on your drive!

Herbella · 19/05/2017 20:23

Where I live a vehicle is considered abandoned and will be towed away if it hasn't been moved in a fortnight and someone reports it.
After 6 weeks I reported the car parked (in a parking space) outside the flats where we lived: it transpired it was stolen and abandonned!
