We're fighting over scraps while they push ahead wasting billions over Brexit

I still haven't woken up from this weird nightmare. On mumsnet we're all fighting over the scraps both main parties have decided to throw to us while they push on with Brexit unchallenged, without any coherent plan. It's going to cost billions and in the short to medium term leave us all poorer. This at a time when things were just starting to recover after the financial crash. And yet nothing of the good people were promised from brexit (staying in single market, 350 million per week to NHS) are on offer. Only all the shite.

Starlighter
People voted, we need to get on with it and stop whinging.

If I was in a plane and a slim majority of the passengers voted to fly it into the side of a mountain, I'd be telling then they were doing something stupid, loudly and continuously up until we crashed.

Call it whinging if you want, but a stupid idea is a stupid idea even if 52% voted for it. And in a democracy we are entitled to say so.

"the younger generations and the poorer people who will take the biggest 'hit' from Brexit. "

They should have got up off their arses and voted then shouldn't they.

I don't think it's self righteous to bemoan the money being wasted when education and health and social care are crying out for decent funding!

histinyhandsarefrozen · 19/05/2017 11:11

Its very self-righteous to worry about social care.

People should just get on with it.

Yes there are knowns on both sides - thanks for the link. That doesn't mean however that everything is known - which was my point.

The car-part post was interesting - and that illustrates well one of the problems that will have to be faced. Apart from that it s mostly name calling so I suspect it won't be enlightening ether way.

Since we are leaving I wonder what might be done to make that as successful as possible

Yeah we all wonder Confused

Since we are leaving I wonder what might be done to make that as successful as possible

Good question. Better had it been asked prior to June 23rd last year.

But never mind. Our delightful government, after almost a whole year of hard work, has come up with a plan!

It's called the "Great British Pay-More-Get-Less-Plan".

Wave your Union Flags and enjoy!

"Since we are leaving I wonder what might be done to make that as successful as possible."

I wonder that too. I think we'll need people who are highly intelligent, with a good understanding of trade, of law and of constitutional issues, and who have excellent diplomacy and negotiating skills.

Instead, we've got David Davis, Boris Johnson and Liam Fox.
