because it is my birthday on Saturday and it is Mothers Day on Sunday?

Just spoke to DP, and we were discussing what the plans were for the weekend. He had invited some friends round on Saturday evening (I dont know if that means I am cooking or we are getting take away yet ), as opposed to organising something with family.

We then talked about him picking something up from work that he had forgotten to bring home that we will need for the garden this weekend. So, he said...."Oh I'll pop to work Saturday morning with the LO's, and you'll get your lie in then, because our friends are coming over Saturday night, and I'll have a few drinks so will be better for me to have the lie in on Sunday"

Err...firstly Saturday night is my birthday and although I dont often drink - I might want to on my birthday. Secondly - it's Mothers Day on Sunday and had it fallen on any other weekend that that of my birthday - i'dve got the lie in.

Mind you...I usually get my lie in on a Sunday, adn DP's on a Saturday.......

hmmmmm What say you all?

Ah but Pann, he should be absolutely devoted to his partner, and this weekend in particular her every wish should be his command.

lol.

Pann · 15/03/2007 20:15

unknown - have you been drinking?

Mercy · 15/03/2007 20:16

jollymum??

VVV it's your absolute right as a mother and a birthday girl - just do it!

(I didn't know it was Mother's/Mothering day tbh)

Ladymuck · 15/03/2007 20:16

I usually have the Saturday monring lie-in and dh Sunday.... We haven't discussed this weekend yet. Doesn't feel the same level of "treat" if I have merely swapped the day.

harpsichordcarrier · 15/03/2007 20:17

saturday
Sunday
and Monday too
IMHO
could you do an extra day at Easter?!?

unknownrebelbang · 15/03/2007 20:17

I wish.

I am, however, delirious with a cold, lol.

Ladymuck · 15/03/2007 20:17

BUt VVVQV - I think that you should definitely have both! I just feel that i might not be on such a firm footing...

noonar · 15/03/2007 20:18

unknownrebelbang · 15/03/2007 20:23

Funnily enough Cod, we never did (DH worked too many weekends).

Still, it's better now - send the Rebels down to get their own breakfast and we both get a lie-in.

CODalmighty · 15/03/2007 20:24

yes ithinkt he tit for tat thingk just breeds resnetment

harpsichordcarrier · 15/03/2007 20:25

we do the Saturday and Sunday thing. it's good so you can plan your night out

unknownrebelbang · 15/03/2007 20:26

Works for some folks.

noonar · 15/03/2007 20:26

agree that tit for tat is not healthy, but when they're v small, its hard not to compete for the 'tiredest parent' award, ime.

harpsichordcarrier · 15/03/2007 20:28

yes, I agree generally about the tit for tat thing. I hate to hear the "oh he owes me a night out or an afternoon off" or whatever
but swopping lie ins works for us tbh

VeniVidiVickiQV · 15/03/2007 20:37

tit for tat is different to taking turns to give each other a break.

however, special occasions incur special treatment. DP knows Im not a morning person (very much a night owl), and will grumble if I let him sleep longer than 9.30am because it makes him feel groggy for the rest of the day.
