Especially in corporate world? Just curious.

Also, before anyone suspects fat shaming, I'm a 16 myself. So really curious as I am doing the rounds of graduate job interviews currently.

Yes.

Mum2jenny · 17/05/2017 22:13

Yes

kalinkafoxtrot45 · 17/05/2017 22:13

I interview people all the time and don't give it a second thought.

PookieDo · 17/05/2017 22:14

Not if they are well presented and a suitable candidate for the job. If it was a manual role and being overweight would be detrimental to both their health and the company then yes it would be an issue.
I suppose it would also depend on whether their weight gave them mobility problems which might be an issue for some roles too but if it isn't then they should be treated like other candidates but I am quite sure it's like many things in life - people get discriminated against for a lot of things and this is probably one of them as people may assume someone is unhealthy

Sammysquiz · 17/05/2017 22:15

Yes.

ThisIsStartingToBoreMe · 17/05/2017 22:15

Yes

TheShapeofYou · 17/05/2017 22:16

Yes.

ThisIsStartingToBoreMe · 17/05/2017 22:16

I've had weight loss surgery and the difference is astounding, I've witnessed it first hand. People are so shallow it's ugly.

intergalacticbrexitdisco · 17/05/2017 22:16

If it's for a Slimming World instructor or a personal trainer, probably!

NapQueen · 17/05/2017 22:16

Im fat. I got a call 45 mins after my interview saying I was hired. Ive since found out they had a fair few interviews, so could have chosen someone else.

AtHomeDadGlos · 17/05/2017 22:17

Depends how fat surely. A little extra weight probably not a problem. Obese/morbidly obese? Yes, that would be a problem.

ThatsWotSheSaid · 17/05/2017 22:17

Yes.

SensitiveSoinSo · 17/05/2017 22:18

Probably. Fst people are looked down on in general in every other aspect of life. I would expect employment to be the same.

Didyoumeantobesorude1 · 17/05/2017 22:18

Yes, unfortunately. It shouldn't be so but it is.

GoldilocksAndTheThreePears · 17/05/2017 22:18

Yup. People assumed I couldn't run around with kids (former nanny) but I did, I walked miles for school runs, ran around parks. Rolled around on the floor with the kids while some skinny nannies I knew sat and played on their phones Grin

Sarasue1967 · 17/05/2017 22:18

Yes, and so it should be. I wouldn't employ someone who was fat. Shows a lack of self discipline and laziness

Wastinmylifeaway · 17/05/2017 22:18

Doesn't even register with me
Can ou do the job (well)? Do you model the behaviours I'm after?

Alexandra87 · 17/05/2017 22:19

Yes I would think it gave the impression that someone was lazy and also more likely to suffer health problems (I say this as somebody who is obese)
So I think if everything else other than weight was the same for 2 candidates but one was slim and one obese most would choose the slim person

tellitlikeitispls · 17/05/2017 22:19

Yes. I don't think folk conciously treat you differently, but they do.

intergalacticbrexitdisco · 17/05/2017 22:20

No, it doesn't, Sarasue. It can show physical problems that are nothing to do with laziness, such as thyroid issues or antidepressants.

Karlakitten1 · 17/05/2017 22:20

Can't believe people are saying yes. What a shit world this is. 16 is not big, please be proud of your hard work!!! Your image does not define you! Yes, look smart and speak well, sell yourself in terms of your skills, but don't feel pressure to be a certain size.

pieceofpurplesky · 17/05/2017 22:20

Sarasue how shallow you are. And how misguided.

JigglyTuff · 17/05/2017 22:21

Yes absolutely. Sarasue has just demonstrated perfectly what some people think about fat people.

DisappearingFish · 17/05/2017 22:21

Yes. Without question.
