I don't want my ds to be a page boy

I know I'm going to sound ridiculous but here goes... I hate my brother. He's getting married some point soon. My mum has already said that twat features (my bro) will want my 4 yr old ds to be a page boy. I know my ds will not want to wear the outfit and certainly won't want to go into the church (when it was my grandfather's funeral last year he went into the church before anyone turned up and ran out as he didn't like it and refused to go back in). I don't want to force my ds to wear something he won't want to wear and go into a building he won't like. Aibu to refuse my brother and mothers request to have him as a page boy? Thank you

Is your brother aware of your feeling towards him? Because I'd bet money he's not going to ask your son to be a pageboy if he is...

I also second the point that you won't be going if you actually 'hate' the groom, will you?

If you do plan to go - and take your son (although his dislike of churches is somewhat odd - has he ever been in one, other than at a funeral?) - you would be unreasonable to not let him be pageboy solely on the grounds he will not like the outfit. He's 4 years old - a shirt and elastic-neck-tie isn't going to hurt him for the duration of the service and photos. You wouldn't take him in jogging bottoms as a wedding guest, right? So if he'd wear a smart outfit, he could wear a pageboy suit.

Bit of a difference between a funeral (church full of very sad people, general talk of death, solemn atmosphere etc) and a wedding (church full of flowers, relatives in best clothes, happiness, etc) - just because a little boy picked up on the tension of a funeral and didn't like it, doesn't mean to say he might not enjoy being part of the celebration of a wedding. It sounds as if you've already decided how itchy the socks your DB's going to make him wear will be, instead of thinking he might enjoy it even if you're sitting there with a face on glaring at your brother

You sound really immature. If you hate your brother so much, just find a reason to decline the invite (which you might not even get if the feeling is mutual). Stop using your son as an excuse.

You don't want him to do it
Stop the silly excuses

Tit for tat. Except it might just be tit because we don't know if there has even been tat.
I have no idea. It all sounds rather childish to me.

He probably won't fancy school uniform, or going to school much either, but will have to put up with them. It comes down to what you want really, and it sounds as if you want to use your DS to annoy your DB.

He hasn't even asked or should I say future SIL who I assume would be the one deciding hasn't! It may be your Mum's wishful thinking!

Lol at Damien 😂

Twat feature? TWAT FEATURES???? Oh FFS I think you need to grow up OP!

corythatwas · 16/05/2017 22:45

Of course you can refuse to let your ds be a page boy if you think it is the right thing to do.

But to base any decisions on the fact that he did not like a building last year when he was 3 sounds seriously odd. Do you generally parent him like this, or is that simply an excuse because of issues with your brother?
