Could probably do with it but really can't be arsed. Currently on mat leave and have realised only put make up on twice in the last year (for weddings).

YANBU I'm so jel OP!

I don't feel the need to look attractive for other men.

There it is, this thread was going far too well, everyone was "it's not a problem, wear it if you want to, don't if you don't want to" then this.

Let me tell you something , most men couldn't give a flying fuck if you wear make-up or not. It's the women that judge, and the women who don't wear make-up are the judgiest of all.

Oh c'mon, don't let me down, I usually play MN Make Up Bingo when this sort of thread starts - Just a few to go and it's a full house. Could someone mention coco the clown and preferring to spend more time with your kids, please? Ta.

Sometimes I wear make up. Sometimes I don't. I'm the same person either way.

Do you really need others to tell you it's ok not to wear make up?

lizzyj4 · 16/05/2017 17:17

It's not unreasonable at all, depends entirely on how you feel most comfortable. And I speak as someone who wears make-up every day.

'Women who don't wear makeup are the judgiest of all'

What is the proper word for this ridiculous circular argument with a side order of silliness?

Kitsandkids · 16/05/2017 18:18

My comment about not needing to look attractive to men was in jest, so I'm surprised it attracted so many comments! Clearly I'm just not funny, or don't come across as funny on the internet anyway!

Just to clarify, I don't wear makeup because I can't be arsed and can't see any reason to. At all. I don't judge those that do wear it and I don't judge those that don't. Is that opinion ok with everyone? Wink

Interesting, thanks all. Shieldmaidenmama, I think that is sort of the AIBU I was thinking. I couldn't give a monkeys how attractive other people (men or women) think I am or what they think of my skin tone (not great as it goes), but it's part of the overall impression you give. I wear it for weddings as feel the need to look like I've made an effort. I went through a phase of wearing it for work, as well as smartening up a bit in general, and it did seem to make a difference to how others responded to me, a bit more like a grown up I guess. But then kids came along and when I went back to work I was lucky to get in with brushed hair and wearing matching shoes let alone make up. What's got me thinking I guess is noticing the amount of women who put do a full on face for the school run/baby groups. Well done to them for managing it I say and if it makes you feel good go for it, but do you think less of me that I can't be bothered?

YANBU. I only ever slap on the make up for a night out or special occasion but only because it's seems to much of a faff day to day. I'm just not organised enough to be perfectly made up first thing in the morning.
I admit I think I look better with make up but DH says I look better without, I know he loves a bit of red lippy though.
