Robert Crampton in The Times on Saturday: trip to A&E

Anyone else think it was unreasonable for Robert Crampton to take his teenage daughter to A&E because she had a temperature on a Friday night, instead of giving paracetamol and letting her rest at home? He wrote about it in his column in the Times magazine.

I didn't think it was particularly good either. I have so far avoided reading his column, as I didn't find it appealing from the titles, but I was compelled to read it because of this thread. I will not be wasting my time again ;)

I like Caitlin Moran's Celebrity Watch column in the same newspaper, I think she's very funny, and a much better writer than RC. But I think her talent is a bit wasted on this kind of thing.

It must be hard to write a column like the above, there must be a lot of pressure to be funny every time.

I read it too and thought it was insane. To go to ER for a 39.5 degree temperature! (which, no, is NOT high in anyone over about 3 yo, assuming it was taken with an oral or ear thermometer)! a temperature that he (specifically says) he couldn't even be bothered to look up online!

now we, a year ago, had to rush to ER at a weekend for a very nasty broken arm. They could not have been more wonderful. We have three DC, one with significant SEN, and have always found the NHS to be superstars. People like Crampton are the real problem...

Robert Crampton is a self seeking attention knob.

Robert Crampton is an attention seeking knob and not even funny.

He's a hack with a column to fill. I suspect much has been added/left out.
