'DP' and lack of financial security

My 'DP' and I have been together for 16 years- we have 2 kids together. He is older than me by 12 years and thus in late 50's.
We aren't married - I have life cover for the kids and also death in service payment totalling 300k. I have put it all in trust for the kids and they are named as the beneficiaries of my pension. In short, I have made some provision even though we don't own a house.

In short, my DP has done nothing to provide for the kids should anything happen to him. Nothing. We would be screwed. We had a massive row about it as he wont discuss anything with me about and claims at some point while drunk to have proposed to me but apparently I turned him down- I have no recollection of this at all.

Aibu to be really really fed up of it. I just feel like everything is so precarious and I have made some provisions for my kids via life insurance etc.

It pisses me off that I live with someone who doesn't seem to give a fuck about how his children would be provided for should he die.
