Is this likely to go to court or no charge?

A friend had been arrested in September and kept getting re bailed.
The new date to attend police station was Tuesday, she received a phone call saying she needs to bring a solicitor with her on Tuesday.
Any other time the police has just said don't attend we are just extending bail.
Could this mean it is going to court or dropping charges?

Had they been charged?

Datesandflowers · 13/05/2017 17:55

They had been charged but bailed then rebailed twice ..then this time the police rang to say you must attend the station with a solicitor present

It's like likely that she wasn't charged, but now will be.

Is it the sort of offence that they would offer a caution for?

Unless she did do it, she shouldn't accept it.

Birdsgottaf1y · 13/05/2017 17:58

X post.

They won't be dropping the charges. It will be getting taken further.

LedaP · 13/05/2017 17:58

Sounds like she is likely to be charged?
Is a caution a possibility?

SpongeBobJudgeyPants · 13/05/2017 18:00

Unlikely to be a caution if she has been advised to bring a solicitor.

thecatsarecrazy · 13/05/2017 18:03

They cant keep re bailing now would it have anything to do with that

Datesandflowers · 13/05/2017 18:06

I'm not sure it's the type of offense a caution would be offered.
They are saying they are not guilty of crime.
The solicitor has said they hope it goes to crown court rather than small court as more chance at crown court of a not guilty verdict

It likely means they're going to reinterview.

Yes they can keep rebailing. It's only cases after the beginning of April 2017 that the new rules come into play.

Alexandra87 · 13/05/2017 18:29

It sounds to me like they want to question them again

MyFavouriteName · 13/05/2017 18:39

Crown Court? Must be a pretty serious offence then. Either being charged or being interviewed again if they've requested the solicitor to be present.

kungfupannda · 13/05/2017 18:54

Almost certainly a re-interview.

kungfupannda · 13/05/2017 18:55

And the solicitor should be ringing to find out what is going to happen so that they don't waste time turning up for a re-bail. Unless the police are being secretive for some reason, it ought to be fairly straightforward to find out what it's about.

Nancy91 · 13/05/2017 18:56

In my experience it was just a phone call that stated no further action, so it's not looking good I'm afraid Sad

If it was no charge they'd just say on the phone .
She's either being questioned again or charged
