I love the grey paint colours around at the moment but cannot decide what colour to do our bedroom. Just done the dc's Dulux Oyster Bay (pale grey blue) and Goose Down. Main bathroom is Chic Shadow, Landing is a grey/green so I feel like all the good greys have been taken! Would love some ideas please.

Neptune Lilly is allover my house. In my sons room it works with dark woods and navies for a classic American style boy look.
In my sitting room it's really soothing, paired with creams and brass fittings and in my hallway it's paired with white bannister/frames. Love it.

Maybe a useless tip but when painting the walls grey make sure your woodwork is sanded very smooth and painted a brilliant white, preferably gloss. It makes such a difference to the grey shades!

We have a lovely one from valspar called weathered cottage. Looks really fresh in our south facing room.

Perfectly Taupe Dulux. Gorgeous. I had it recommended on here about 8 years ago!

Another vote for Dulux Polished Pebble...we've just painted our lounge in it and it looks fab! Really calming (not cold) so would be great for a bedroom x

Dulux Just Walnut. Very light grey.

Do not go for Dulux Pebble Shore - not nice at all imo. Too blue.

Polished pebble on our hall and stairs and upstairs landing. It's the ONLY reason I'm not using it in the bedroom too.
I think I fancy a darker one in the bedroom.

Another vote for polished pebble. Bought it for my little boys room and nursery and ended up doing the whole house. Very happy with it.

I absolutely love F&B Blackened - calming, gorgeous in sunlight, warm on cold days. It's a more blue grey, which is quite soft.

Am looking for a grey for DS bedroom-so v interesting

I just painted a tester of f&b pigeon and love it but you'd need to have a light room and white ceiling/woodwork.

I love Cornforth white as well (or dulux dusted moss 2 is similar), but if you want something a bit lighter then Strong White is a very subtle grey which works really well in or spare room.

I'm having a problem finding a grey shade so watching with interest. We got 9 tester pots and tried on different walls. All of them look very blue or violet on at least one wall. I'd advise to definitely try them in different areas and lighting to be sure.

Not grey but we have f&b elephant breath in bedroom, lovely and cosy but light. But our sitting room is f&b downpipe which beautiful and one of my friends has her bedroom (actually I think her guest room) and it looks amazing

Gah the grey shades just all confuse me - is it worth trying samples?

Report
fiorentina · 13/05/2017 08:10

If you aren't sure samples are good, on a couple of walls to see how dark it looks in various lights. I love grey and find it relaxing. I'm sure it will look great.

Yes I have strong white on the woodwork I think

Oh no! Grey was fashionable in the early 1980s, it was everywhere, especially bathrooms. I did the bedroom in pale grey and white and it was so depressing.
