By God, people who don't have proper nicknames are annoying. Get a name, I can't tell the difference between you all!!! And you're usually the most opiniated.

I posted on site issues about this.

It's a common theme.

MNHQ are apparently working on it...

Sparklingbrook · 10/05/2017 18:44

It's on MNHQ's list apparently.

Also Zombie Threads. Apparently newbies find the zombie warning 'offputting'.

Mustn't upset the newbies...

intheknickersoftime · 10/05/2017 21:03

Thanks Eats and sparkling. I dip in and out of Mumsnet and just look in active convos so I post anywhere. I wouldn't want to put anyone off posting here but come on, zombie thread warnings, why would people be put off by that? Silly newbies. Just start a new thread.

Oh hurrah, another newbie bashing thread. Must be at least, oh, an hour since the last one.

I haven't seen any specific newbie bashing threads. Confused

I think it's odd that the opinions of people that have been here a while aren't generally listened to.

user3459859083590890 · 10/05/2017 21:09

I specifically chose this name!!!

user3459859083590890 · 10/05/2017 21:09

It's unique actually, so there Grin

HeartsTrumpDiamonds · 10/05/2017 21:17

user3459etc. I can distinguish you from other userxxxx names because (a) yours starts with the number 3, not 147/148/149 and (b) it is longer than the others.

ArtemisiaGentilleschi · 10/05/2017 21:17

Some of the comments are definitely newbie bashing.
If I had joined MN today (rather than in 2004) and because I'd been given a "username" username by the system, and then clicked on this thread, I'd feel all warm and fluffy about comments like "mustn't upset the newbies" Hmm
The old zombie thread alert was fine...but I guess it was just a bit silly and again, the poor new bugger who doesn't realise you shouldn't resurrect them gets people whining about that too. Is it that important? Are your days ruined if a zombie thread is resurrected? Because seriously, if so, it might be time to look at how invested you are in MN.
God forbid they change a logo or something. You'd have the vapours.

HeartsTrumpDiamonds · 10/05/2017 21:18

What have they done to zombie thread alerts?

Sparklingbrook · 10/05/2017 21:23

It is in MN's interests not to upset the newbies as they want newbies.

They probably need the newbies more than any regular posters TBH.

The Zombie threads being resurrected by trolls and spammers is a PITA.

ArtemisiaGentilleschi · 10/05/2017 21:27

I think in all these years I've probably inadvertently opened about 3 zombie threads that had been bumped.
Spotted myself on one from years ago.
Oddly it didn't ruin my life and cause me to whinge about the person who'd done it. Because it's no biggie. One was a spammer so I reported it.

Sparklingbrook · 10/05/2017 21:30

Nothing on MN is life ruining. That would be a bit weird.Shock

But small things can get on your nerves. You only have to read posts in AIBU to see that.

SmokeCloak · 10/05/2017 21:34

I opened 3 zombie threafs in one day.

One of them was 8 years old Grin

WindyWednesday · 10/05/2017 21:34

They did alter the logo.

It got pretty heated Grin

SmokeCloak · 10/05/2017 21:37

Everyone was giving the OP advice about her 11year old when he was at least 19 now. Grin

Sparklingbrook · 10/05/2017 21:37

I was a bit narky when they changed 'Most Active' to 'Trending'. Then they asked us all what we thought about the non MN emojis being allowed and they said they would review it when lots said they were awful. But nothing ever happened.

I am just waiting for the 'Like' button' to appear. It's only a matter of time.

WindyWednesday · 10/05/2017 21:40

The Cadbury bar emoji disappeared. Grin

5318008 · 10/05/2017 21:42

Number names are sooooo annoying Wink

intheknickersoftime · 10/05/2017 21:59

I was kind of hoping someone would specifically change their name to a number to post on this thread Grin

OP posts:
SasBel · 11/05/2017 08:28

I have name changed a few times over the years, never had a problem. Maybe it is an issue for new accounts and the tech department really is working on it?
Generally though, I do think that a lot of user blah blah tend to start goady threads, and then they get upset when I 'ODFOD' them Grin

SasBel · 11/05/2017 08:29

Just realised that it is Thursday, have I inadvertently resurrected a zombie thread? Shock Grin

UrsulaPandress · 11/05/2017 08:32

I dint think it's as easy or obvious how to name change as it used to be.

I ignore all user nicknames.
