To shower during DS swimming lesson?

Just that really. Our boiler has packed up and we can't afford to get it looked at (probably needs replacing) for another couple of weeks or so. We have no heating which is ok in this weather, especially as we have a fab heater, but we also have no hot water so can't use our shower or bath. We are getting by filling bottles from the kettle and having shallow baths and hair washing using a jug but.... I'm desperate for a real shower! DS has swimming lessons on Saturday mornings and the mixed changing rooms have lovely shower cubicles so you can take your swim costume off and have a proper all over shower. WIBU to pop in the shower at the swimming pool while DS(8) is in his lesson or is it unfair as I haven't paid to swim? DH thinks it's fine but I'm a bit anxious.

I would. I used to use the showers at work when my bathroom was being done .

Rachel0Greep · 08/05/2017 11:00

Oh definitely do it, why not.
Poor you, hope you can get the boiler sorted soon.

Teladi · 08/05/2017 11:03

I do this every week, but DD's swimming lesson is at my local gym where I have a membership.

I understand your reluctance because you haven't paid to swim, but I think it's OK. If anyone complains you can just shower elsewhere next time. In my experience this is so minor - most people have a lot more front than that!! Wink

Teladi · 08/05/2017 11:04

Just to clarify I do have a shower at home and wash more than once a week Blush, I am just using my time effectively!!

WorraLiberty · 08/05/2017 11:07

I would definitely do that in your situation.

It's actually a brilliant idea Grin

Freyanna · 08/05/2017 11:11

I would do it.

WindyWednesday · 08/05/2017 11:20

I would

Awwlookatmybabyspider · 08/05/2017 11:23

I used to. I used change her into her jarmies.
Her lessons were in the evenings

MrsWombat · 08/05/2017 11:24

I would. But pay for a swim if it makes you feel better. Mine has a running track which is cheaper that swimming so would probably pay for that instead.

BillyButtfuck · 08/05/2017 11:24

I don't see a problem with it. Enjoy!

SapphireStrange · 08/05/2017 11:25

Totally do it.

AnnieAnoniMouse · 08/05/2017 11:39

Of course it's fine 😊

If you live anywhere near me you're all welcome to come here for a shower. (SE England).

TheNoodlesIncident · 08/05/2017 11:45

I would, I can't see a problem with that.

(And if it's possible, maybe when you manage to sort your boiler have an electric shower installed as well? Additional upheaval for sure, but a godsend for those times your boiler is playing silly beggars, and you never have to consider how much hot water is left. Ours is dependent on the ancient boiler working, and I really miss the security of the fantastic Mira electric shower we had in the previous house...)

I was wondering the same thing. DH is slowly renovating our bathroom and we haven't had a functioning shower since Easter. Occasionally the bath is usable, but I have been getting by with jugs of warm water and a flannel and trying to fit in trips to my in-laws. DH showers at the gym but I don't go to a gym. Unfortunately, I have to take DD2, who is 2yrs old with me to DD1's swimming lesson, and they just have the communal showers in the changing area, but I did wonder about taking my swimsuit and having a shower and washing my hair there. I need to check with DH whether it is compulsory to sit and watch DD swim, as he was the parent who went to swimming lessons until a couple of weeks ago, or whether I am allowed to not sit there the whole time.

IHopeYouStepOnALegoPiece · 08/05/2017 12:37

Do it but double check if you can just pay for a shower- our local pool charges 50p to just have a shower instead of £3+ they charge for a swim

MackerelOfFact · 08/05/2017 12:38

Yes, do it. In the highly unlikely event that someone confronts you about not having paid, just say DS puked on you in the car or something and you need to clean up.

I really don't think anyone is going to notice or care though.

AnnPerkins · 08/05/2017 12:42

That wouldn't have occurred to me tbh. I usually pay to swim in the slow lanes while DS has his lesson.

I suppose it's ok. No one will notice. They ask at ours for parents not to leave the centre but you're not are you?

I remember our boiler being out of action and weeks of miserable, shallow, tepid baths, so I don't blame you.

foxyloxy78 · 08/05/2017 13:54

Totally do it

DramaQueenofHighCs · 08/05/2017 16:10

Thanks all. I'll be packing an extra towel this week!

You probably are but I certainly would.

haveacupoftea · 08/05/2017 16:50

You should go the whole hog and have a nice twenty minute session in the health suite if it has a jacuzzi!
