Sorry for the strange sounding title I couldn't think of how to phrase the question!!!
Been a bit stuck for motivation really - got lots of things I need to get done that I KNOW I can do, just been feeling a bit low.

So help me out guys!!! Tell me stories of when you've made yourself really proud. Get me motivated!!!

Spending six weeks living at Alder Hey whilst my newborn baby had multiple operations. I expressed milk for 4 weeks as he couldn't feed from me then spent 2 weeks breastfeeding - would get a call in the middle of the night to say he was hungry so I'd get dressed, walk across from the accommodation block, feed him & walk back.
Living on my own having just become a Mum was really hard & dealing with a diagnosis that would affect our lives forever. I look back & wonder how I got through it but also know that others go through much worse.

My A level results. I was 4 months pregnant (very unplanned) when I was sitting my exams, had to leave during two of them to throw up! And my lovely thoughtful parents had booked their wedding right in the middle of them. Still managed A's and A*'s.

Giving birth without pain relief!

I'm the worlds biggest wuss when it comes to pain usually.

BetterEatCheese Languages! Studying really is bloody hard isn't it. Makes me feel better that you lot are in the same boat Wine

PNGirl Great to see another linguist out there Grin

musicposy I hate to get all soppy but your post had me welling up. I still can't swim after years of horrendous lessons as a child like you. I've never had the courage to go back to it and DP is always trying to encourage me but I've always chickened out. Reading your post has really really made me want to do it... Just wanted to let you know you don't sound pathetic at all. Thank you so much.

My 5.5 stone certificate at slimming world. It took me 6 months to go from 5 to 5.5 as I was diagnosed with a disease and it was a horrible time, I could barely walk and I did it.

Unfortunately I put it all back on but on it again for my 6 stone and then 7 stone and then 8 stone then 10 stone

Robstersgirl · 07/05/2017 20:27

Passing my driving test after 5 tries!
Winning Employee of the Year out of a large employer city council.
When my kids use their manners and people notice.

Robstersgirl · 07/05/2017 20:28

Oh and bringing up 5 kids alone and holding down a full time job.

Uiscebeatha85 · 07/05/2017 20:34

Finishing my degree. I repeated a year, then deferred another so it took me 2 years longer but I finally did it. I struggled with it right till the bitter end!

darwinsbabe · 07/05/2017 20:40

Moved to a new non English speaking country at 22. It was the back of beyond I was staying and I hated it every single day but I got through it with the least amount of anxiety possible and came out the other end knowing that I can push myself further than I think and I'm stronger mentally than I give myself credit for. If I ever falter or doubt myself I go back to that time and I remember that I stuck it out and I'm now fluent in another language Smile

darwinsbabe · 07/05/2017 20:42

The country wasn't new...just new to me
😂😂

urbanrock · 07/05/2017 20:46

Completing my degree while working full time with 2 kids under 6.
Running my first 5k, then 10k, I've entered the ballot for next year's marathon so hoping I can add that to my list

OhMrBadger · 07/05/2017 20:47

Passing my driving test at 42. Never ever thought I'd manage it.

MrsJamesMathews · 07/05/2017 20:52

BFing my prem baby at 30 weeks gestation (3 weeks old). Everyone (literally, everyone) told me it wasn't possible until 35 weeks. But he did it. I did. We got there together. I'm more proud of him. But it's one of the few times my dogged stubborn independence paid off.

Guitargirl · 07/05/2017 20:54

I love reading these - especially the losing weight ones (which I definitely need to do) and the poster who carried each piece of furniture upstairs to build at 8 months pregnant!

I am proud of:

  • breastfeeding both my DCs until they were nearly 2
  • completing a PhD whilst working full-time
  • having a book published
  • delivering my grandparents' eulogies.
tigerdriverII · 07/05/2017 20:57

Overcoming career ending demotion for something that was not my fault. Grinding my way back to where I should be, and getting apologies from the top for the mistake they made, and all with a smile on my face and spring in my step

iMatter · 07/05/2017 20:59

Finishing a half marathon in 1hr 36 mins.

AmberNectarine · 07/05/2017 21:02

Went on a TV game show I'd always wanted to play on and won a couple of games. No monetary prize but a very special piece of crockery!

HarrietSchulenberg · 07/05/2017 21:04

Finally teaching myself to swim, aged 41.

BitchQueen90 · 07/05/2017 21:08

When I moved into my first flat, just me and DS after separating from my ExH. I'd been a SAHM before we split and had never been solely responsible for household bills etc.

I'd never been so happy as I was on that day. I felt so free and independent.

Stickaforkinimdone · 07/05/2017 21:13

Getting a first class BSc hons from one of the best universities in the country having 5 years previously dropped out of A levels. I cried with relief when I saw my result and so wanted to go back to the shitty excuse of a school I endured to show them my degree certificate (with an obligatory two fingers up in their general direction)
Not at all bitter but hey....😬

badhotfanny · 07/05/2017 21:14

Teaching myself to ride a bike aged 32.

Climbing the pinnacles in Indonesia.

Running 19 miles (still planning that marathon).

EmpressOfTheSpartacusOceans · 07/05/2017 21:16

Harriet, can I ask how you did it?

I'm seriously considering learning to swim and currently trying to decide between going to classes and trying to teach myself.

DramaAlpaca · 07/05/2017 21:17

Finally passing my driving test third time round.

Abseiling down a very tall building for charity despite being petrified of heights.

My wonderful, perfect home birth with DC3.

JudasHisCarrot · 07/05/2017 21:17

Reporting my historical abuser to the police.
Overcoming years of depression and anxiety.
Running a marathon.

RedMetamorphosis · 07/05/2017 21:18

Getting my BA degree.
So far, averaging a high distinction in my MSc with just my thesis to go.
