Why don't mn pull threads which are obviously from journalists

Just that really. I've read so many threads where it's obvious that the post is from a paper. Shouldn't mn pull these? Doesn't it ruin the chance of proper debate if posters are going to end up in the paper

Because MN has a symbiotic relationship with the media.

Users post horrified links to the DM, sending folk over to their site, and the DM publish clickbait sourced from MN sending people to their site.

What sort of threads do you mean? The only one I've seen relatively recently that I thought was obviously from a journalist was entitled something like 'AIBU to ask you to tell me the inside secrets of your profession' or something similar. Didn't know it was a big/ongoing issue.

SheldonsSpot · 06/05/2017 15:33

Hmmm now what would MN have to gain if they were constantly in the papers... let me think....

Hmm
AllPowerfulLizardPerson · 06/05/2017 15:38

Did you report the threads which concerned you?

magicstar1 · 06/05/2017 15:42

Some of them are very obvious..."I'm having an argument with my neighbour - tell me your worst stories". I always report when I feel they're journalists.

YoniFucker · 06/05/2017 15:42

They do. I've reported several. They've gone poof quickly.

TheGentleMoose · 06/05/2017 16:14

I posted a thread yesterday that I was hesitant to post because I thought it would get pulled due to thoughts it was from a journalist, or that people would post things that journalists could pull into an article.

However, I really needed some advice and to hear the experience of other MNetter so I posted away. Thankfully, it's not been pulled, but perhaps that is because it's glaringly obvious it's a follow up from advice I'd received in another thread.

motherinferior · 06/05/2017 17:16

What about threads posted by MNers who are also journalists?

We walk among you (I've been here for 14 years too>

MN was started by journalists. I'm not dissing that tbh, they have made a monster a massive success of it. It's not a crime for a journalist to ask a question, though I suppose my Woodward and Bernstein head thinks they should fess up.

StillDrivingMeBonkers · 06/05/2017 17:20

You have no idea if a thread is going to take off - the baby name thread appeared in the DM this morning. I'd hardly describe it a riveting read. But it's cheap journalism - get a load of bored house wives to write something allegedly amusing, republish it and give MN the source credit. Voila you have your coffee break filler and a load more bored people at work reading snippets out to each other.

Unmentioned no definitely not. Just a married mum of two. I was only interested as it seems to be raised in a lot of threads
