To find perfect careful people annoying?

Our neighbours seem like nice people but they are the kind of people who do everything perfectly!

So, if they wash the car the man has a boiler suit on and the kids waterproofs, it was sunny today so the children both had shades on going to school, cutting the hedge they wear ear defenders (and boiler suit), cycling and scootering yellow hi vis and helmets ... you get the picture?!

Not sure why it irritates me but it does! Probably cos I wish i was more like that!

Oh and when they go on holiday people come to move their car around and change the curtain openings.

A boiler suit to wash the car sounds OTT.

CauliflowerSqueeze · 05/05/2017 20:01

YANBU they sound like dicks

JugglingMum17 · 05/05/2017 20:01

Hahah that's funny

Ecureuil · 05/05/2017 20:01

I agree. I'm somewhat in awe as well as being irritated!

Blowingthroughthejasmineinmymi · 05/05/2017 20:02

sound hilarious, and prepared. I always find that sort of outta control is masking something wildly out of control underneath Grin

JugglingMum17 · 05/05/2017 20:02

Haha this just reminded me of a family we camped next to one year. Hearing their overhearingly perfect chat around the perfectly-laid breakfast table each day had us in silent fits of laughter in our sleeping bags.

wizzywig · 05/05/2017 20:03

i have a neighbour who has a special boiler suit for jet washing the driveway. it has a camo-pattern

NoFuckingRoomOnMyBroom · 05/05/2017 20:03

My kids wear sunnies because they ask to, the rest is a bit odd.

StiffyByng · 05/05/2017 20:03

I bet they use the plastic gloves at petrol stations. I once saw a man doing that and was so excited as I didn't realise anyone actually did.

KentMum2008 · 05/05/2017 20:03

IME people who have to carefully construct such a perfect facade, are frequently less than perfect behind closed doors. I know 2 couples who were like this. One couple are now divorced, husband was serial adulterer and the other couple moved away after the husband was convicted of fraud a few years back and served a prison sentence. I'm not saying this is true of everybody who's 'perfect', but don't always be fooled by outside appearances.

wizzywig · 05/05/2017 20:03

and another neighbour who has a special fluffy buffing machine to buff his motorhome that he washes weekly. even when he doesnt go anywhere

StillStayingClassySanDiego · 05/05/2017 20:04

Friends to make the house look occupied when they're away? Excellent ideaSmile.

Boiler suit for anything other than chopping up dead bodies, no!

He's bonkers and probably a serial killer.

ijustwannadance · 05/05/2017 20:04

Have you posted this before? De ja vu.

LostSight · 05/05/2017 20:07

I would find it irritating too. Seeing someone doing everything around their house 'perfectly' would make me feel inferior.

That said, someone doing the same at work wouldn't bother me and that is because I am confident that I am good at my job.

Hence I suspect the problem relates to my own inferiority complex about how I run my household. Isn't that a sad realisation? Drat!!

Jot it all down and in a few years you may have the makings for an 'Alan Bennett' style book'
Or just get a reputation for being a 'curtain twitcher' Smile

overmydeadbody · 05/05/2017 20:09

My dh always wears a boiler suit in the garage when he's working on the cars, so if he were then to wash a car he would still be wearing it. It makes sense, why would he want to get his normal clothes oily or dirty?

We're not perfect though so hopefully the neighbours don't judge.

haveacupoftea · 05/05/2017 20:12

Oooh yes that would annoy me too. Someone I know goes on and on about how wheely bin lids need to be fully closed for safety reasons when you leave the bin out and I just want to scream LIVE A LITTLE!! Surely that is not a normal concern for a 34 year old man?

I'm convinced that these are the same people who get antibiotics after 2 days of having the cold instead of going to bed with a large hot toddy.

Nospringflower · 05/05/2017 20:12

Never posted about it before! I think I am a bit jealous because their house and garden looks perfect and we look like the poor scabby relations next door!

They also have a lid for their recycling bin whereas ours is cracked and full of wine bottles with no lid to hide it all!

Argh, I hate these people. I have an irrational hatred of people who very carefully get Tupperware pots of stuff out of a neatly packed backpack during wholesome family activities. Bleurgh. Sometimes I have the odd pot of fruit knocking around but usually I'm opening bags of crisps that I've found at the bottom of my handbag while Proper Families look pityingly at my poor malnourished offspring. I think there are MILLIONS of them on MN.

ifcatscouldtalk · 05/05/2017 20:19

poor scabby relations Grin
I feel quite in awe of people who have it together in an almost military fashion.
I only started filling out a calendar this year and was massively proud of myself.

cushioncovers · 05/05/2017 20:22

Sounds expensive
