Wonderful lyrics.

I'd love it to become a women's anthem, like I Will Survive.

The video is good too.

bibbitybobbityyhat · 05/05/2017 15:21

I wonder if she posted on Mumsnet Relationships about her lazy dh?

I've only heard it a couple of times but have had it stuck in my head a lot. Its a very strong song. I wondered if it was about her ex being useless after their daughter was born

LloydDobler · 05/05/2017 15:30

I really love it too, it's been in my head for days.

Astella22 · 05/05/2017 15:35

Imelda May is great, true musician. Hope it's huge for her.

bibbitybobbityyhat · 05/05/2017 15:41

Just realised the title is actually Should Have Been You, not Who Takes Care Of Me?

And I agree, I think that's a better title.

I love it too. I'm feeling spectacularly bitter about lack of support at the moment.

I've never really liked her stuff before.

Lovewineandchocs · 05/05/2017 16:10

I am playing it right now and DD (3) has just said, "I love that song" Smile strong woman in the making Grin

busterhall · 05/05/2017 16:13

Its a good song and I also love Frazey Fords Done which has a similer vibe:

APlaceOnTheCouch · 05/05/2017 16:15

I downloaded it today. It's fab Grin

Quite like the video as it makes me nostalgic for all the years I lived in Brixton. But they do seem to be going round in circles a bit (literally).

Imelda May: I do love a ballsy, Dublin woman Smile
Talented woman.

And, yes, the song/ video's message is a strong one.
(Her new look's quite Chrissie Hynde-esque, isn't it?).

I miss her unique, rockabilly, quiff vibe era, though. Was wonderful...though I can understand why she got fed up with some people focusing more on that than her actual voice and music, and felt she needed a change of (post-divorce) direction.

ThaliaLuxurySpa · 05/05/2017 16:37

buster,

Ooh, thanks for the Frazey Ford vid.
Had not heard of her before Blush but, after listening to that track, will go and check out more about her...

busterhall · 05/05/2017 16:46

Love Frazey Ford she's great also check out the Be Good Tanya's her old band if you like bluegrass type music!

ThaliaLuxurySpa · 05/05/2017 16:50

This 4 minute extract from her Annie Mac interview is revealing, btw:

tazzy73 · 05/05/2017 16:51

I'm with you Thalia, Ballsy Dublin women are great (that's probably because I'm one).

This is Imelda May with Jools & His Rhythm & Blues Orchestra - Black Tears - Jools' Annual Hootenanny

ThaliaLuxurySpa · 05/05/2017 16:52

buster,

Will do. Thanks. Smile

ThaliaLuxurySpa · 05/05/2017 16:58

Thanks, also, tazzy...you ballsy Dublin woman you Wink.

Great stuff!

This one demonstrates her amazing voice nicely, too:

Lottapianos · 05/05/2017 18:30

I love her new look. I liked her rockabilly look too but I prefer the softness of her new hair and make up

ThaliaLuxurySpa · 05/05/2017 21:28

This is too adorable: (approx. 45 seconds in) 12 yr old Imelda (on right of group, holding yellow lantern), performing on Irish Xmas show, 1986. Grin

Dmacka75 · 05/05/2017 21:29

I love it

bibbitybobbityyhat · 05/05/2017 22:27

Pleased to hear many of you love it.

Hope it catches on and becomes immense!
