...to bloody ^love^ yellow stickers?

Had some time to kill this evening while younger son was at football training - so I walked up to the local high street. Wandered into M&S food hall, purely to sigh over all the lovely, but massively expensive, goodies... and quickly realised I'd arrived at Yellow Sticker Time!

Blimey, it was even better than Asda's.

Tonight my kids feasted on 'Balanced for you' Thai Green Curry with rice, and Caponata with Boconcini Mozzarella; there's Bircher Style Muesli with apple and dried cranberries for non-coeliac boy in the morning; and a gluten free BLT for his brother. Shelf price: £13. Cost me... two quid.

AIBU to feel I've won some sort of uber middle class lottery?

YANBU - have just done the same at Waitrose - not quite such a bargain though!

NapQueen · 04/05/2017 22:00

I love a yellow sticker too, but cant get to them for the swarm of shoppers yrailing literally behind fge staff who are stickering.

scaryclown · 04/05/2017 22:02

Best one for me is Morrison's..They do what i call'proper' reductions..Eg 9p a loaf.... Great when you are V.v.short..

PickAChew · 04/05/2017 22:03

Bah. I did an M&S shop just before closing, this evening, and the best they could offer was a 100g pack of distinctly brown tinged white asparagus for 25p.

CormorantDevouringTime · 04/05/2017 22:04

I hate my local Tesco's feeble excuses for yellow stickers. 3:99 reduced to 3:69! Whoopie fucking Doo.

Gingernaut · 04/05/2017 22:06

Nope.

YADNBU.

Tesco is a bloody scrum when the reduced items come out but Sainsbug's do some fine, fine bargains.

multivac · 04/05/2017 22:09

Cormorant Tesco is the worst at yellow stickers, definitely.

Scaryclown Asda is great for 'proper' reductions, too. I think the reason I felt so chuffed this evening is that the food was so fancy to start with, then seriously reduced - the gluten free BLT was 35p, for example; and the Thai Curry ready meal, originally over four quid, was 95p.

Yellow stickers are brilliant! Got to watch m and s though, they will reduce to 3.30 or 3.40 when its on a 3 for tenner deal anyway, not a bargain

thenightsky · 04/05/2017 22:12

Tesco round here are shite.... 10p off is not a reduction in my book. Angry

MrsJoyOdell · 04/05/2017 22:14

Oh I think Asda are shit at yellow stickers! We rate Morrisons and also the co-op if you go at the right time. 10p pizza!

Beerwench · 04/05/2017 22:21

Me and Dfriend sometimes go to local supermarkets later on for yellow sticker time! I love the feeling of grabbing something I wouldn't be able to justify paying full price for, for a price I can afford! My favourites are champagne choc truffles down to 99p and posh pâté!

Muchtoomuchtodo · 04/05/2017 22:25

Amazing op! Hope it's all been enjoyed.

I've never really struck gold at this!

Funnyfive · 04/05/2017 22:31

My Mum, for many years, used to work on the Deli in Sainsbury's - we used to basically live on reductions! Still love a reduction although Tesco is very stingy with their discounts!

EnidButton · 04/05/2017 22:34

I like hunting out the flowers at yellow sticker time in M&S. Best find was 2 dozen yellow roses for £1. They were huge ones, completely perfect and they smelt like lemon sherbet. Have had quite a few bunches of marked down flowers from there. None as amazing as they were though.

Don't go in especially for that reason but it seems to be when we're in there anyway.

Flowers and 10p pasteries from the bakery.

FloatyCat · 04/05/2017 22:35

Waitrose yesterday:
Chicken korma £1.99
24 Aberdeen Angus meatballs £1,99
4 Aberdeen Angus burgers £2.49
Blue cheese &1.05
I know it's not super cheap, but their good is usually out of my budget. The cheese was bloody lovely. Everything else in the freezer now.

SpornStar · 04/05/2017 22:38

My ultimate yellow sticker bargain was a leg of lamb in Sainsbury's. It's original price was £19.99....I paid 99p! I checked out through the self service tills so no one could tell me it has been wrongly priced and take away my bargain.

My mother is a yellow sticker nightmare. She will buy anything if she considers it cheap enough. She'll even buy stuff she doesn't want/like just because it's a bargain. She also hates waste so she offloads the shit she doesn't want on me when I'm not around to refuse. She has keys to my house so she lets hersel in and fills my fridge with random crap. I'll come home to find a guinea fowl, 4 pomegranates, and a bag of sardines. i wouldn't mind but I don't like any of that stuff either. My cats are well fed though.

TheSnowFairy · 04/05/2017 22:48

I thought you meant Post it notes Blush

multivac · 04/05/2017 22:50

To be fair, I love those too.

NapQueen · 04/05/2017 22:52

What time do M&S usually sticker?

multivac · 04/05/2017 22:59

I don't know about usually - but this was 5.30pm in a small, High St, food hall only branch, due to close at 6pm.

Cockadoodle · 04/05/2017 23:04

Waitrose are the SHIZZLE for reductions! Best Steak Mince once 25p booom! I bought it all. Specialty breads 5p! Yippee Skippy

Cockadoodle · 04/05/2017 23:04

And yes I feel like I've won something!

MrsMarigold · 04/05/2017 23:06

Ha Ha me too. But when I saw the thread title I thought what is wrong with this OP she likes parking penalty notices! Our Waitress is useless for reductions.

MrsMarigold · 04/05/2017 23:07

Waitrose - damn autocorrect.

SemiNormal · 04/05/2017 23:10

YANBU - M&S do great reductions, I got several of their Indian meal for 2 boxes the other week, originally £8.50 down to 85p.
