Hairdressers...

I went to the hairdressers a few days ago and they did my regrowth with bleach. After they'd tried something else and it didn't work (might be relevant, not sure).

Anyway, when they washed off the bleach I don't think they did it very well and some was left on clumps of my hair. When I woke up the next morning I had red, raw patches where the bleach had damaged my skin...

It also hurt like fuck. I know having bleach on your head is gonna hurt - but AIBU to expect it to be washed off afterwards so my scalp doesn't get all sore and scabby? I don't know whether this is just something that happens with bleach or not...

Also, the bleach then needed a toner the next day which they did for free, so they're not assholes, but it still really hurts, am I just being a spoilt wimp?

Use silver shampoo, it's works slightly better than purple shampoo and will take the yellow away

Craic
Maybe some insurers. But not all. And I speak from experience from working in salons since 15 and now run my own and seeing quite a few complaints happen.

I went and asked for my money back. They didn't give it to me, but said I could have a free head of highlights next time. It's not sore anymore, but I've now got the worst dandruff known to woman. Guess I won't be wearing black tops for a while...

@moomoose did they do a patch test ?

moomoose · 09/05/2017 22:20

Nope - and was a new sort of dye.

Did you tell the hairdresser it was hurting you at the time?

MuncheysMummy · 09/05/2017 22:40

Yep that's my first question too, as soon as it began to feel uncomfortable did you tell the stylist??

moomoose · 11/05/2017 12:30

Yes, but I was told it's usual for it to hurt a bit - so I thought when the bleach went on that I was just being a wimp... I'll know better for next time!

She sounds incompetent.

I went to get my roots retouched last week. A hairdresser I hadn't used before. They insisted on doing a patch test 48 hours before the appointment and were very clear that if there were any problems I was to contact them immediately.

I had no reaction and went in for the actual bleaching/toning process. I was in the chair for around an hour whilst the colour was lifted, the toner applied, and at several points the hairdresser checked on the process. He reminded me to let him know if at any point it became uncomfortable.

Once the process was finished he spent a considerable time rinsing to ensure all was clear. My hair was dried and I went home and added colour over the top (no bleach or ammonia in it).

I think you need to pursue this. It doesn't sound professional in any way.
