Age of your child when they had their first mobile phone!

Sorry to put such a boring thread in AIBU, but I really wanted some high volume traffic on this one.
Basically, what age did/will you allow your child to have a mobile phone?
I know a lot of it is down to maturity etc. But, just wanted some straw poll figures 😃

He had one for when he had play dates or sleepovers etc... however it wasn't his, he was 9

He's 11 now and we have just him him an iPhone a few months back as he's now at home for a hr after school alone, I got this as it has an app called find an iPhone on it and I could trace where he was down to the exact location.

We gave dd hers for her 12th birthday, but ds is now 10 and EVERY child in his class has a bloody phone! The final nail in the coffin was one of his close friends getting one for his birthday today - they were ok being a twosome without phones, but now ds is beside himself as the only one! The plan was always to get one for his 11th birthday next year, think I might have to bring it forward to Christmas - peer pressure is such a pain!
