AIBU to think kids to characters should speak correctly?

Some of the way kids tv characters speak is appalling. I'm thinking Bing and characters in Kate and mim mim (which we never watch as it's just too irritating for me) off the top of my head.
I wonder if this can have a negative impact on kids learning to speak or AIBU and it's only an issue if bad tv is the only speech a child hears (which obviously doesn't happen).

Just a general musing really on how people feel about bad grammar in kids tv! I think I just find it annoying more than worrying.

It's annoying but I don't think it's a problem unless they watch too much tv. I have worked with young children in a variety of capacities and the few who speak in American accents despite not having American families were clearly parented in the majority by the tv.

I think watching CBeebies is a pretty safe activity. The presenters and shows all speak clearly with English accents. My kids watched CBeebies pretty much every day and are praised for their excellent vocabulary by their teachers at 9 and 7 Smile

Both RaRa and Bing have been brilliant for DD1, I think the portrayal of situations faced by children and using a few grammatically incorrect words (Bing/Charlie and Lola) is to make it realistic for children...DH will always repeat the word correctly.
Baby Jake is the one that I can not stand...!

There's a cartoon on the cartoon Network who is vulgar and talks in a weird way. I think he's got ginger hair & is fat, he has a friend/sibling that is blonde and skinnier. I've never known a cartoon masks me want to throw up. The character is also a little shit.

My 3 year old now says "yars" instead of "yes" because Bing does - sounds like a right Hooray Henrietta.

Bee - how is forced incorrect sentence structure going to make it more realistic for children? I'm an early years teacher and I have never come across a child who talks like Charlie or Lola! It's fake, contrived and damaging, IMO, particularly so when children speak English as an additional language.
