Posting here for traffic.

As the title really, those of you that would say you love your job, what do you do?

Appreciate that people can love a job for many reasons (fulfilment, flexibility, money!) but I'm hankering after a career change and looking for inspiration!

A buyer for a supermarket. I choose what products go on the shelves, I negotiate prices with suppliers and organise promotions. Also get involved with the logistics and customer data. I love it as every day is different

Jellycatspyjamas · 03/05/2017 07:55

I train social workers and am a psychotherapist- I love both roles for different reasons, they balance each other out perfectly.

Paperdoll16 · 03/05/2017 07:58

Two jobs..

Midwife by night

Photographer by day.

Love both. I've even merged the two and photographed a birth! 😬

Salzundessig · 03/05/2017 08:09

Teacher in an international school. I love it but it has bad moments too. More money and less paperwork than in the UK

chestylarue52 · 03/05/2017 08:17

I'm a software developer, it's fun and interesting and I like my team. I learn every day at work and there is a strong problem solving aspect which I enjoy.

Used to be an Aircraft Dispatcher. Adored it. Miss it like mad... SadSadSad

whattheactualfudge · 03/05/2017 08:18

24hour You sound horrific

Zaberwocky · 03/05/2017 08:19

I'm going with past tense Grin LOVED.

I was a HR L&D planner before this. It was a lovely job. I was responsible for the training and development of over 500 people. It was fun, I was out in stores as much as I was office based, it was so much fun.

justkeeponsmiling · 03/05/2017 08:20

whattheactualfudge · 03/05/2017 08:21

Vroomster Do you have kids of your own?

RoseGoldProsecco · 03/05/2017 08:22

Lawyer here - I wouldn't say I absolutely love it, but I really really like it. It's challenging and always different and I am surrounded by smart, interesting people. And it pays bloody well too.

Other friends who really love their jobs:

Investment banker
Health visitor
Actress
Forensic accountant

NCISgeek · 03/05/2017 08:23

whatthe I think her comment is meant to be tongue in cheek.

I'm a paramedic and love it. Everyday is different and you meet some amazing people

Susiesue61 · 03/05/2017 08:24

I work in a hospice and I love my job 😊 I love (most of!) the staff and it's fab getting to know the patients and families

24HourTrainer · 03/05/2017 08:27

Thanks.

You sound like someone who says fudge instead of fuck and everyone around you wants to say 'fudge off and grow the fudge up you fudging trump.'

Feel free to post a slightly more intelligent and thoughtful reply.

RoseGoldProsecco · 03/05/2017 08:30

24 - well, it made me laugh. horrific solidarity fist bumps

24HourTrainer · 03/05/2017 08:30

NCISgeek

Vaguely tongue in cheek although I wouldn't do this job if it didn't pay well because it's really fucking tough and I like being in a position of power because, after years of experience, training and education, I think I know best (or at least understand and can implement current best practice) and like the ability to make that happen. Feeling that you know better but are unable to action the required changes is frustrating and not a position I'd like.

Lovelilies · 03/05/2017 08:30

I'm a nurse on a surgical ward.
Love it

Fortnum · 03/05/2017 08:31

Im a Service Engineer home based which means i never have to actually go to the office. I work 7-10 days a month. Earn about 80k a year.

Garlicansapphire · 03/05/2017 08:33

Director in a charity - love it. The cause, the people, the variety and that its making a difference to peoples' lives.

hellhasnofurylikeahungrywoman · 03/05/2017 08:34

Specialist Nursery Nurse, I care for children with complex health needs, children on the palliative pathway and children who are ventilated in their own homes so that the rest of the family can have a break. My work involves day care and overnight work all year round.

RocketPockets · 03/05/2017 08:41

I'm an ODP
Similar to a nurse but I only work in theatres. I love it, some days can be really tough (yesterday) but I absolutely love what I do. Surgeons and anaesthetists can be absolute nightmares but they can also be really really fun.

ephemeralfairy · 03/05/2017 08:43

I work in libraries and archives. I love it. Currently in a public library and doing freelance work in the archive of a major media publishing company. I've also worked in museums and with rare books and manuscripts.

CaulkheadNorth · 03/05/2017 08:46

I'm employed by the CofE to grow churches. I love it.

I've done similar jobs before in more challenging areas and I haven't enjoyed that as much. In this role I earn more than i have before, have great colleagues and a good team. There are times when I want to bang my head against a wall but I think we all get that.

HermioneJeanGranger · 03/05/2017 08:50

High-end outdoor retail.

I really love my job - my colleagues are lovely, I have good hours, plenty of holiday and decent pay (for retail) - double time for bank holidays and overtime for anything over 37.5 hours/week, and our customers are generally lovely - plus, they bring their dogs which means I get to fuss dogs everyday :)

Lozzie12 · 03/05/2017 08:54

I'm a health visitor now and love it, its a really rewarding job. I was an adult / paediatric A&E nurse before this and loved that as well, very fast moving.
