To think this was scaremongering to try to get my vote?

A man called at my door yesterday and said he was an independent candidate to be a local councillor.

I live next door to a small play area that is locked at 9pm or dusk in the winter and opened at 9am everyday. It's surrounded by a high fence and high gate.

He decided to drop into our chat that needles had been found in there and if he got voted in he'd do something about it. When I asked him to elaborate he said someone at the top of our street had just told him.

He admitted he didn't know it was locked at night and tried to back track. I told him in the six months I've lived here I've never seen anyone older than 12 in there and I'd never heard or seen anyone in there at night. No one has reported anything either.

My windows overlook it to, so within reason I'd know.

He looked very embarrassed and said he wouldn't take up anymore of my time and scooted off!

This is small street in a nice, quiet area, and it's not a well known play area. It's only really used by the kids on the street.

I'm not sure whether to take it with a pinch of salt or contact him and ask him to prove it. If it's true then we need to know so we can protect our kids.

Any advice appreciated.

I overlook a park as well, if a prospective councillor knocked on my door and said that I would laugh at them.

Bullshitting to act outraged about something he knows nothing about. If you see anything first hand, then believe it.
