Motorbike at 5:15am

Motorbike in the street revs for exactly 6 minutes every morning, before pulling off at 5:21am every morning.

I don't get back to sleep after this, it wakes my 8yo ds and it's making us very very tired and grumpy.

The end of the street is terraces so its impossible to work out which house the owner lives in.

Would anyone else be annoyed at this and please tell me we can do something about it?! It's starting to drive me crazy!!

Maybe! There is an Indian restaurant on the corner...

That reminds me though, when the dog was yapping and doing my head in, I posted on the 'next door' app. Might be joining (assuming your local area is on there) and asking? I put a friendly post up just asking whether the dog owner was on there and explained why.

TooGood2BeFalse · 03/05/2017 08:39

No advice but my sympathy OP.

I live in an apartment block. My neighbour leaves for work at 5am in the NOISIEST car that has ever existed. She parks right underneath our balcony and consistentlyou wakes up DS 9 months. Who then wakes up 5 year old DS. It drives me to tears most days as on rare occasions she doesn't start that bloody car, both boys sleep till 7am without fail.

Snot you could write a book! But I did try and nosy this morning. All I got was it's black and he wears full leathers. I will continue to investigate!

FeralBeryl · 03/05/2017 11:08

No advice - but sounds like most people on the thread live in the same street Grin

ThreeLeggedHaggis · 03/05/2017 17:45

OP, you won't talk to the neighbour and won't leave a note... so was this just a rant thread, or do you actually want to do something about it?

Babymamamama · 03/05/2017 17:56

Silicon earplugs could be an option?

olderthanyouthink · 03/05/2017 18:01

Lol at snots post

Might be my dad...

Take the cover off, bumping other stuff around
Unchains the bike, jangle jangle
Starts his bike, revs it a bit (not particularly loudly) and leaves it to idle
Opens the gates, bit of bumping
Goes back into the house for forgotten stuff and helmet
Helmet and gloves on
Backs bike out
Shuts gates, more bumping
Puts bike in gear, loudly pulls away

I can sleep through this most of the time

judgymoo · 03/05/2017 18:04

Im a biker myself and so is my DH. We ride Harleys which have very loud pipes but we try to be as considerate as possible to our neighbours to the point of wheeling the bikes down the road before we start them if it is an unsociable hour. Same when coming home, we will actually coast the last bit so as not to disturb people.

SparklyFairyDust · 03/05/2017 18:05

Living in an area where there are many factories, I think it's a fact of life that people will leave at all hours. Not just motorbikes, but old diesel cars. I only notice as I'm awake, but it never disturbs others.

SuperFlyHigh · 03/05/2017 18:16

I really would try and speak or put a note on his bike OP. If all else fails environmental health. 5.30am is a ridiculous time for this noise.

snot agreed with all your 3 types. I know a middle aged man (newly divorced) with a Harley and he rides it like its his life long dream come true... He looks ok actually!

The first type I know a few and add moped riders to this list. God knows how many don't get killed a few do sadly actually

My uncle (bit of a twat) has ridden motorbikes for many years almost died when someone knocked him off it recently as a hit and run) is on medication for life but good recovery), he still rides motorbikes though. He must have a death wish.

sunshineandsparkles · 03/05/2017 19:17

I haven't said I won't find the owner or leave a note. I don't think I will be challenging him alone though!

It's just that it's further along on my side, so I would have to be outside already to do any effective detective work. And I think I might look a bit weird doing that. And it'll take some planning, as I'm asleep til he starts!

But hopefully snot has given me enough info to see if I can go to EH.

And yes, I think I did just want a bit of a rant / sympathy too...
